I've done this before and it's a pain in the hinny. Find a small square piece of perfectly flat metal stock or something similar, wrap your sandpaper around it, and carefully use that while trying hard to keep it flat against the heatsink. Take your time and be patient.

Heh that seems it will take way longer than sanding the socket's!

Do not take me seriously

What I would do is put the HS in a vise and use a power sander. Best have about 10 extra belts handy cause you may need them. Well best to get started.

First fire up the sander and start sanding. Don't stop until the HS is completly gone or you run out of belts, which ever comes first. When done sweep up filings and recycle them.

Orbs suck, thats just my opinion.

Seriously what that fella said is about right on. Personally I went to the HW store and got a Silicon Carbide sharpening stone. I took the stone out of the paper container and put a straight edge on it to make sure it was perfectly straight. This way you know it is a perfectly flat surface. Thing is this cost about $10 US. Might as well spend $20 on a good copper cooler some place online. If you are going to OC with that ORB good luck. They are only good for running your cpu stock pretty much unless you can OC without vcore bump.
