My card was fine when I put it in storage a few months ago but when I installed it on a couple of machines I found it had apparently died. After several weeks of not being able to toss it I had been scrutinizing the pcb looking for obvious damage or a missing component and finally after who knows how many times I came across a couple of pads that appear to have held a resistor the pads are not neat beads of solder and a look at a high res pic from a site seems to confirm that something was knocked off. seeing as how it was used with a homebuilt waterblock its not a total surprise. My problem is even the highest res pic I have found does not clearly or even almost tell me the value of the resistor. so here goes if you plot a point using the silkscreened image on the board (white printing) x=(just above the D where it says "tested to comply") and the y=(the "+" just to the left and above "TP4") there are two resistors there and they have a small round pad or filled hole between them the one I am missing is the one on the left. Oh yeah this the back of the card approx a cm left of the pins on the gpu and just below the center of the gpu. hope this is enough to get the info without posting a pic somewhere

PS my algebra is bit rusty but my x is the position up and down and my y is the left and right sorry if i got that wrong.

If you put a few more paragraphs in your post instead of one mainly large block of text it will make it easier to read and not cause people to hit the 'back' button as soon as they look in your thread. :)

Just a friendly hint although unfortunately I don't have a 9700 any more to check for you. :(

Why go threw so much hell...

Just buy a new card at a mom and pop shop computer store. A 9800pro card from retail could range from $85 to $110 dollars, I think.
