View Full Version : I got a PIII 700 running @ 933 thanks to you guys!!!
I have a Shuttle hot 661P BX board that supposedly supports Coppermines. I bought a PIII 850 fcpga and an Asus slocket but it didn't work. I returned it and luckily was only out return shipping. I figured it might be the slocket, so I turned my attention to slot 1 cpus. After reading several posts in this forum, I saw that many of you suggested the PIII 700 for a guaranteed 933 if you get a stepping after CA2. I tried my luck, and for $90 I am the owner of a WORKING 700@933. It took me some tinkering to get it stable, but it works. I just wanted to drop a note to tell all you guys to keep posting, cause you help people you don't even know. My old setup had the legendary 300A@450...it served me well. I got a faster rig for cheaper...go figure. Anyway, thanks again, and kudos!!! :p

Heh thats good can you overclock it anymore?
This forum was basically for helping others ocing :D
No, I'm at the max FSB(133) of this MB(crap, but paid for, and stable), so I'm cool. Don't have money for another. The perfomance is great. I've been with my Celly 300A for 3 years. The new games have been giving it the crunch, so when I put the 700@933 in it solved all that. Hopefully it will last another 2 years.

I got my old 500(CRAPPY KATMAI CORE) to a 620 which is awsome hehehe
if only i had the better core I would be some what in the 700 !!! :D
Might jack the 500E at my bros house doing nothing hehe
Ahhhhh a 33% increase is FSB for free!!!!!! Life is good:cool:
I outperform a 1ghz according to Sisandra, probably due to pci/apg overclock.

Yes overclocking something from 733 to 933 would definitely out preform a 1ghz since your overclocking everything... Ram Bus Speeds and etc.

This is what i want to achieve! is there a list of currently available motherboards to overclock my fcpga PIII 700? mine is sh*te. I physically change the FSB to 133 and it sticks at 100! must be sth weird with the bios?
what does x86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 6 mean in terms of overclocking??

Ah, another oldie but goodie. What mobo are you using? You may have something that says "Speed Error Hold" or something else to that effect in the BIOS... if you do, set it to "disable".
Yes, uncheck the speed error control. That is most likely your problem. Unless you are trying to change the multiplier, which the intel chips are locked. FSB is the only way to OC a Pentium or Celeron chip.

...there's no options like that.
just dip switches on the mobo. the only stuff i found about my mobo is here - PC-CHIPS Lottery ;)

it says i have to use "cpufsb" - but i think this mobo is barely stable at 100Mhz - or would that just be win98se that crashes "EVERY DAY" - even after a fresh install.
[RAM & DRIVES are all good.]
