Will i run into any trouble installing MCE?

i read at different places that MCE was easy and works great, then someone said he had to have certain parts on your comp to get something in the media center part to work, and some others said it is hard to install

i just want the tv function mainly, and the updated stuff

and is there a place i can get a discount for students i doubt it htough

can anyone chime in that uses it or has used it
