Read a few articles about taking off the athlon case in order to use a GFD.

But how do you cool the chip once the case is off? I presume a regular heatsink/fan can't be 'clipped' on to the bare cpu in the same way that they clip on to the athlon case?

[Just bought myself the 'Athlon freezer pro' too! :( could i somehow still use this to cool my athlon?]

Thanks for the help

Some people say taking the cases off are better, but it is usually minimal. The way I did it, I kept the mounting braces. I did so by using a jigsaw cutter and cutting them out. That way, I would still have the proper spacing without a casing. You can also use the caps of ballpoint pens, but it was easier for me to cut it out from my original casing.

If you've already removed it, you'll know what I'm talking about. It may be slightly different from a PIII case, but it shouldn't be too different.

If I remeber, the Freezer Pro is designed for Slot A's. So as long as you have a Slot CPU and proper spacers, you'll be fine
