ok i sent evga a step up request about 2 weeks ago and i just got a reply from them. but here is the question. should i do it. i currently have this card
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130249
the card i wanted to step up too is this one.

the difference being 222 buks. now i would rather have 1 high end card then have 2 lower end cards in SLI. so i would think that 1 7800gtx might be better than me trying to run 2 7800gt's. but since nvidia is coming out with the 79 series what should i do??

Its sure the cheapest way to upgrade. So I will give a

I was planninig on stepping up to an AGP 7800 when they come out, do you know if you had to have bought the card from them(evga), or just any retailer?
I got mine from the egg.

i dont think it matters who you buy it from just as long as it didnt come bundled with a complete system. i bought mine from newegg also

I'm in the same position as you are. I got the 7800GT for my 1280x1024 native LCD, it handles it perfectly fine at max settings and all, but it might be worth it to step up to 7800GTX for a future monitor upgrade, otherwise after the 3 months, the 7800GT wouldn't be worth its original price anymore..

I'd say do it if you have that extra $150 on handy, if you can afford it and it's within your budget, definitely do it.

well the difference is 242 buks. remember like i bought my card from newegg and its was 310 shipped. if you got it straight from evga it would have costed about 450 or so. so basically you are paying more because instead of shipping your old card back and getting the new one at newegg prices you are paying full price now for the new card. so the one i am going to get is 454 on newegg but with the step up program getting it straight from evga its 569 i think. so its worth it but its not. in the long run i will have paid less if i would have just got the gtx from newegg to start with.

no problem i have been talking to viperjohn and he says to get the gtx ko. theres something about the regular gtx not having that the ko has that makes it a better card and easier to mod

Wait for six months when you actually might need more speed and then buy a 7800gt on the cheap and run SLI. You would be spending a lot of money for very little in speed. Every month that goes by SLI gets better and more effective. My $.02

well here is what i want to do really. and we all know this to be true is get 1 top end card. that would be better than my 2 gt's. so what i am going to do is just keep this gt and when the 7900 comes out i am going to jump on it. still keeping the 7800gt though. but if prices are just like freakin outrageous on the 7900 then i will just get another 7800gt
