Welcome to the forum, however this is the second topic you have posted about the same thing. You have to research your motherboard and figure out where your bus speed and CPU multiplier jumpers are by looking in the manual or downloading the manual if you don't have one. Every model motherboard is different. Sometimes you luck out and the jumpers are labeled. Probably the only hope you have to overclock that antique is to set the jumpers at 2X multiplier and FSB at 66 to give you a blazing 133 MHz.

Look for the jumpers on the motherboard if you can't seem to increase then try programs called SoftFSB and CPUFSB but before using those program you'll have to identify some things on your motherboard.

Any thoughts as to where these jumpers would be located?
I've been all over IBM'S. website,and as you've aknowledged
the things oooollllddddd!!!!!!!!! could'nt find anything on the board..Oh by the way,I figured a blazing 133 of old computer is worth more than 1Gig of ASHES!!! Appriciate the replies...

Are you sure it's an Intel brand motherboard??? I bet it's not. It might take an Intel CPU and have an Intel chipset on the mobo, but that doesn't mean it's an Intel brand motherboard. You will need to figure out what brand motherboard it is first. I had one old mobo that the brand was printed on the back side. I had another one that I never could figure out what it was. Sometimes there is a table printed on the mobo that tells which jumpers to set for varies CPUs. These tables are not always next to the jumpers. The jumpers could be anywhere on the motherboard depending on the brand.

Next time you fire up the system, press the Pause Key (usualy next to Scr Lk) and write down the BIOS Code (usually bottom Left hand corner below "Press DEL (or whatever) to enter setup"

Once you have this code, go to Wim's bios page http://www.ping.be/bios and look down the list of BIOS codes there.

Chances are you'll find out the maker of your mobo , model no. etc. from the deciphered code.

Once you are armed with this info, go to google (or your search engine of choice) and type in what mobo maker, what model no. and the word Manual.
This should hope fully bring a list of places with mobo manuals. If you get nothing, then try Jumper settings in place of manual.

Good luck!

The only bios #I can come up with is bgous1L,dated 12/29 w/I updated. I went to the link you've provided (thanx) they need a bios string #. I've tried to locate this via instructions given,no luck the only access I've got to any set up is through f1,IBM's set up.One of the ideas given at the link was to cause a key board era at boot up, and the # should've showed in lower left corner it didn't. I went to IBM did some more searching came up w/3 possible board p/n's non of which worked w/mobo cop. Any further ideas would be apreciated. Also any links you can provide on the basics of OCing,(jummpers, ect.)I'm learning a bunch, and lovin it..
Thanx for your time!!! Jski

There are a number of articles on the front page that should be helpful for general learning.

As for your mobo. Can you give a precise model number of the computer it shipped with? How about a model for the motherboard itself?

Here's IBM's official page for your machine. It has several downloadable manuals, and lots of specific information on the machine.

Here's your motherboard layout, pay attention to JP2 and JP3

Here are unofficial Aptiva support sites
