any anti-viri apps < 25mb memory

So are there any anti-viri apps that use less then a constant 25mb of RAM to run? I've used Symantec corporate 10, McAfee, and Trendmicro and they all use about 25mb.

I am interested in Kaspersky also. I am trying out ZoneAlarm Security Suite and its taking about 40MB.

I'm using avast AV, it really gets the job done. Only uses 13 MB of memory, too.

It has saved me multiple times, even just the other day when it found ten, yes ten, viruses and easily removed them. Ever since I started using avast, I've never had to reformat due to a virus. With Norton/other AVs, I had to reformat every six months or so.

Yes i have to agree, avg is just about the best. I hate McAfee every time u connected to the internet it had to update but avg is simple and only updates what it needs. Free version is just about like the bought version.

It looks like you misunderstood, I'm not talking about AVG, I'm talking about avast! Antivirus.

Seems to me if you found that many viruses, using that product, it musn't be doing it's job in 'preventing' you from getting a virus - think about that

Actually I had downloaded something that was sort of suspicious, though I opened it and it detected them all with it's On-Access Scan feature.

They weren't just sitting around for a long time without detection, it caught them right as I opened the file.

I am using KAV(Kaspersky) Personal 5.0.384 right now. It could be a little more robust on how it configured. That is overlooked since I don't do active scans all that often. It is all ackground passive. The only real gripe I have is. The scanner loves to scan everydrive in my computer. I have alot of storage space. That takes forever. For general passive mode it hardly is noticed. Crank it up to max, and you can feel it doing its thing. Seems to have a good update list everyday. Simple and light.

Note that the KAV is only using 1,704K. The taters of the program kavsvc is using 13,012K and is highlighted. It can bump upwards of 18 when active and doing its thing.
