Oh yeah... RIGS!!!! Short end of bench and central workstation, my station.

Notice the lack of wires on the floor. We'll cover that in a minute.

Long end of the bench with the last two stations... and the white fur ball named Max. ;)

Where are all the wires?

haha, it is the same here in oklahoma. some follow the dallas cowboys, but for the most part it is all about the oklahoma sooners! Nice room! I dont think the "boss" would approve of one for me. She still doesnt understand why I need more than one computer in the house anyway. lol. :bang head

BIG THANKS Joe! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v663/harlam357/woot.gif

The room will continue to evolve as time progresses... but this is the first step. I hope to have things tidy'd up by the weekend. I neglected to take a pic of the naked wall on the other side of the room opposite the bench/window. The crystal ball says, "I see a 37" LCD HDTV in your future..." :D Ohhh, I ain't done yet! ;)

I'm an Ohio native, so I'll get my $.02 in... Go State!

Ahh, so is this what I've been battling all this time? Hmm. I should post pictures of my rack ::chuckle::, but unfortunately most machines on it are not on 24/7 because their ppd would be too low to justify the electricity. Eitherway, nice work on the room. Is this a bedroom also? More pictures please. Well take care!

@ Jim - Yep! That's it! ...doesn't seem like much does it? It used to be a bedroom... although it's now missing the bed. :D I've had these rigs piled up in MY bedroom, different room, for quite some time now and after I built my 170 it just got too crowded. I had no room to DO anything really. So this is really a process of getting my rigs setup in a folding/gaming environment and recapturing my living space at the same time. Will take further pics after I get it cleaned up a bit... maybe show off the guts of my rigs a little bit. :D And believe me, my toes are steppin' as quickly as they can. :D Thanks for the kind words Jim! I'm enjoying our little race!

@ ihrsetrdr/garynator - Thank you both! I'm so excited it's hard to sit @ work... my mind tells me I should be @ home cutting cat5.

@ Gary- Damn skippy! Thanks Gary! I couldn't ask for a better carpenter either. I had pops read your post and some others praising his excellent work... he's really getting a kick out of what you guys are saying! I tell him I love it over and over... and will continue to do so, but he thinks it's cool that there's this group of people on the Internet who think it's cool too. :D

I'm Back!!! I know everyone missed me...

OK, so it's Wednesday... spent the weekend cutting custom cat5, rewiring the network.. then the past few evenings I've been adding cable hangers and tidying up (at least under the bench- the rest of the room is a wreck). I think I've gone through at least 100 zip ties. :D

As shown in the update, new APC BR1500 arrived today! Woot! (ouch!) :bang head (that's my wallet getting beat up :eh?: )

Looking for a new LCD monitor... maybe you guys can help me out. The Dell 2005FPW is catching my eye at the moment.

I thought the color scheme was after OCforums... blue and orange... that the default color my browser set it too...

anyway... that's 1st class, just like your Rigs... tight and clean... hell you should see my place... your game room is bigger than my living room and I'm kramed into one little corner... That nice big formica counter top is AWESOME for all the crazy mods we do... I'm jealous...

Well... probably should have posted some up and cleaned this up by now, but RL just gets in the way IYKWIM. :D I also don't have access to the digital I used to use. The old man keeps his around here somewhere... I'll have to ask him if I can borrow it.

Some things have changed... my old D-Link router bit the big one week before last. So I now have a 4-port Gigabit D-Link as well as an 8-port 10/100 switch in place. Anyway, I'll have to see if I can dig up some pics. I missed getting pics of my first "home hosted" LAN... but I continue to have more, so I'll try to get some this weekend.

Thanks for asking Warrior!

harlam357
07-20-06, 10:59 PM
It's @ work. :D ...as mentioned in my spotlight, I just moved jobs and no longer have access to that nice digital anymore. Just haven't purchased my own yet. Plus, I recently got some new RAM (in sig) and an iAudio X5L (http://www.cowonamerica.com/products/iaudio/x5/) (30GB). So I'm holding off on the camera for now... can't get everything at once. Then it's no fun. :D

I have some new pics... let me see if I can dig them up. Things have changed a bit, I can say that. :D

Dude,your dad's Cobra is killer!

11-11-06, 01:13 PM
LOL... ahh ha. We have ourselves a car guy (avatar would suggest so). :D

It is a kit... not original. But that just means he did all the work building it (except the block sanding and paint). I build rigs... Dad, he builds just about everything but rigs. :D I ain't gonna lie... he built the bench for my Folding room. I'm just not that skilled with the power tools. :)

Tell your dad nice Cobra and more pics of that bad boy.

More pics of cobra!!!!!!!, its been months since ive heard one of the old shelby replicas fire up.... omg car-gasim... seriously mad props to him if he rebuilt the motor as well. Although i wouldnt hold anything against him if he took the block to a shop.

Its a nice room set up, the long bench is pretty neat.... but come on... you posted pics of a classic cobra... how can you expect me to even remember there was a room?? Why must you torture me with only one pic of the cobra??

harlam357
11-13-06, 12:08 PM
That's the on-par reaction he and I get from most people... only the extreme enthusiasts find the room more interesting than the car. ;) My room is just that, a room... whereas the car is a piece of American history.

The motor is a crate Cobra motor. So no, he didn't rebuild it. Actually, the only thing "used" in the car is the rear end (not sure what it came out of). However, he did narrow the axles a couple inches on each side to get the wheels to tuck inside the wheel wells. So it is modded. ;)

I think my problem is that i like both PC's and cars, you posted the equivalent of a nice garage, and then posted a legend :D
How i wish my grand dad never sold his fully restored 1973 MGB roadster.

hahaha, yeah i had to frankenstien the drivetrain on my 240sx to get it to the stock specs i wanted.

Thankyou Nissan for giving me interchangable parts that no one else wants. J30 rear end w/ axles, intake cam shaft form an altima $20!, the rest came out of S14s getting SR swaps :D /hug all you ricer drifting fools.

harlam,

Which crate motor did your dad decide to go with ?

Carb or injected ?

harlam357
11-14-06, 09:48 PM
Is got a Holley Carb.... the car, not the garage folks. ;) Although I have looked into it for the garage... :D

harlam357
11-14-06, 11:02 PM
Thanks LS! Humm, seems to vary day to day. :D

Six ATM (3 DC A64, 2 SC A64, 1 XP Mobile)... but I just upgraded pops to my 2.2GHz TBred-B. So it's still Folding, just in another room.

Need to get my TBird back up and Folding as well. I know it's old... but its still got life.

That'll make seven again. ...and hey, the power bill was only $130 last month. Amazing seeing as we saw $400 this summer.

No lies... and not trying to pass it off otherwise. I'm really proud of the "old man". He does good work... he did everything except the paint. Also, there are no donor parts except the rear end, everything else is new. :)

Thanks gents... I'm glad this thread got bumped. With my recent work, to my Folding room (not the car), I'm getting ready to show you guys what's changed in the last year and a half.

No more pictures of Socket A rigs... I promise!

Not as good but were getting there, the rack is being ordered tomarrow and once we get all the systems up off the floor, and my roommates into rackmount cases its going to be nuts :)

Then we are building a wall desk/counter like what you did :)

Nice setup OP.

harlam357
10-07-09, 09:39 AM
Hehe... yeah, all that is pretty old... well, he still has the car. ;)

The old man is running an Opteron 144 atm. He's happy with it... it plays solitaire very nicely. :)

See, I said not to hold me to a date to take new pics... as I think most of those are two years old... or older. But I'm still occupying that space. Primary setup is still the same... just the rigs also occupying the space are just much newer.

I'll get around to taking new pics and posting them one of these days... now see, that's the kind of commitment I can keep. :D

Same thing happened to me but now I have a finished room in the basement that I'm keeping for me and the computers now!!!! (I hope) No more kids for me though, 3 is enough!

That's an awesome setup Harlam, I love the bench and that's exactly what I want to build in my space.
