You may have to do a reinstall. That or tinker around with your BIOS settings some more. With major upgrades like a motherboard, a fresh install usually boots performance and solves a lot of problems. If you do manage to get into Windows, install the 4-in-1 drivers ASAP

Check out this thread it might be of interest.
It is about a registry key to delete so windows searches for all your new hardware and drivers.

Not Always and have you even used an ABIT or ASUS board?
If so what didn't you like about them?

Yup if your using Win 98 then you can just remove PCI Bus thing in your system devices and it'll research everything! As for Win2K you'll have to reinstall that.

Arrrrggggh, I hate it when someone says a motherboard "is the best'". My roommate here at college has an Epox 8k7a+, and out of four nearly identical systems (Iwill, MSI, Epox, Abit), the only exception being his DDR, his is BY FAR the most problematic and slowest. I'm not talking hardware or software issues here, I'm talking about the system not starting up, the fan header occasionally not working, having to push the reset button constantly to get it to even post, random lockups, etc. All the hardware has been tested before in other systems, the motherboard is the only possibility.

Next, I also have to disagree about having to reinstall after changing motherboards. It certainly is the wise thing to do, but is not neccessary in the least. Win2k in particular is good about removing older drivers and installing the new ones automatically.

In your case, however, a format would be the smart thing to do.

I have had 4 Asus boards and they all worked flawless. Incompatibilities usually deal with chipsets and Operating systems. But you already know that, right. Asus and Abit ,as well as Epox, are all good boards. You shouldn't knock them because there are a lot of Asus and Abit owners out there. And lets talk about stability. Asus and Abit are extremely stable where Epox only scores mediocre (mind you this is with the KT266A chip on one review).
