I NEED HELP WITH MY AMD 1.33 processor 256 ddr ram with windows me. in the bios it says capable of 2,000 mghz plz help me get it there

2000 mghz? Wow, that's like 2000000MHz :p All I can say is that It'll be a hard journey to get it there. It probably won't be worth your time. Most AMD's that have reached or exceeded 2GHz required LNē or some other exotic cooling. Most of them only lasted a few minutes as well

That just means that the BIOS has settings for up to 2GHz. You're not likely to get that with your 1.33 Tbird. I think that the highest that I have seen air-cooled were at ~1.7 or so.

Its like having a speedometer that reads up to 200 mph in your car. Just because it reads that high doesn't mean you can go that fast.

it_the_cow is right, in order to get to 2 GHz you need EXTREME cooling of not just the cpu, but many other components as well. Not really worth the money, but could give you a few minutes worth of bragging rights :D

i think u mean 2000mhz , that is not possible unless you are a sick person and use N2 to cool it. Otherwise try if its a 1.33 bout 1600 is max with normal cooing

It is possible!
But you will need alot of time to do it!

You will have better chances with a large evaporative
cooler or "bong".
You will use the bong to cool the CPU, nothbrige, Video
cards, HDD drives, PS, memory......

It is not an easy task...

Do you mind telling us about your current equipment
in detail? (computer system)

And...
WELCOME TO THE FORUMS!

Possible but probably not. You might get it that high but you'll probably spend more time getting there than using it.

If you havent seen in some of the pictures in the above link.....

SEVERE CONDENSATION PROBLOM!
You will need a intense amount of knowlege
to handel a LN2 cooling system or elts you
will DESTROY you computer components
from condensation or just getting the
components so cold that the insides of the chips
"RIP" apart!

If you deside to go ahead, BE CAREFULL!

never heard someone running his amd chip longer then 30sec @ 2gig ... and that was a t bird 1.4 with extreme cooling so i think it just aint possible ... maybe with the newest xp 2000+ (when its officially for sale)

i12bina3
11-02-01, 04:38 PM
just read the LNē article ... and i have to say ... ouch ... i didnt know that was possible
so i have to take my words back ... but when i look at those picks it seems like its almost impossible to do this

.......There are people with 1400-266 CPUs
that have reached 2Ghz & beyone with watercooling or
vapochill, but the systems were very complex!

The most you can get out of a 1.3 I belive is about 1700 :(

i12bina3

if you can hit that ... you are a lucky man ... and someone with watercooling :p

Actually it would be going 2000000Ghz or 2000000000000Mhz, I wish I could get my little sell and run (I know, stupid pun) to go that fast

 MAN! YOU HAVENT GOT A CHANCE TO GET 2.0GHZ WITH A PEWNEY LITTLE 1.33GHZ THUNDERBIRD!!! You need to get an XP 2000+ when it comes out to get that kind of clock speed with an AMDer.:D

Speed King, your temps are way too high get a good heatsink on there quick.

Of course you have to make an exception for loving girls more than your pc, but the bible says you mustn't love the earth, so yeh don't focus on the gals... This is off th epoint excuse my side tracking

umm yes 1800Gig can get to 2GHz easily

I agree,
If he tried very hard and had the $$$ he should be able to
atleast get to 1.6-1.8 if not 2.0!

Pound down the volts!

the 1800+ in rare cases could hit 2000, the 1900 has a better chance, only 400mhz oc. You CAN DEFINATLEY DO IT WIF DA 2000+
i got a 200mhz oc wif a **** board and cpu and mem!

I could hit 1500 Mhz with my AXIA on an abit kt7a... before it burned cause my waterjacket clip broke my socket.... .

hehe! what do you want that sort of performance for? im running a 1ghz and it works fine and i have run lots of high performance applications at the same time with no problems! what you will end up with if you did oc to 2ghz is a dead processor and a hole melted through your m/board if u aint careful! is it really worth trying to achieve? i find that unless you are running high powered graphics applications (cad etc..) then you dont really need all that power, it seems a waste when a lower speed cpu will suffice quite nicely!

I agree... i dont think ive ever heard anyone in here say "My 1ghz is enough..." "You dont really need all that power."
How did he wander in here?? .....Its just not posibble to think like that, is it?? tell me it isnt.....brain overload.....ok ill stop rambling.

Ha Ha Ha everyone is funny in here. It is possible to hit 2.0 gigs out of that chip but you will have to run some high voltage thorugh it and you will need some very good cooling and have a lucky chip remember not all chips are made equal some could handle more then others. good luck on your journey.

You are all wrong 2000mghz is actually 2048000000mhz you all forgot that 1ghz is 1024 mhz. Sorry to be a smart ass.

krakerman
11-05-01, 02:05 PM
it works as the 1 = 1024 for mhz? i dont think so.... i thought it was for bytes or bits or whatever the hell they are (dyslexic)

plague
11-05-01, 04:23 PM
youre right kracker - a meg is 1024 bytes, its not the same with hertz. 1 ghz really is 1000 mhz

P.S.

WOOHOO!!!! 100 posts...I am a member now YaaaaY!!!

Overclocking is a hobby (for the person who got here by accident!) I don't do it because I need the power, but because I HAVE the power!!!

I think 1 MHz is 1000 Hz (or 1000 KHz ???)
