Ok, I need some help tweaking my video card. My specs are in my sig. I need to find a way to get this thing up to speed compared to everyone else using 3dmark 2k1.

Here are the scores I got with different drivers. The only programs I had running in the background were zonealarm, norton anti virus auto protect, and tclockex (a system clock/calendar for the tray). All video card settings are at default.

21.81 drivers: 6489
21.83 drivers: 6552
22.50 drivers: 6672

I got these scores using 3dmark 2k1 and ran each test 3 times go get a more accurate score.

The question is what options should I turn on for me to get a better score out of here. I was expecting at least 7400 or so out of this. I turned on amd sideband addressing compatability and set agp4x on with nvmax and got a boost of about 50 points. I overclocked my memory and core by 20mhz each and still did not reach 7000.

So the big question is what drivers, tweaking programs, and settings should I use? Right now, the only extra cooling I have for my card is a pci slot blower just below it.

it looks like the 22.50 are the best, even on my sys gave a 300 point boost  ...also overclock it higher until you see artifacts....

I figgered that much. I was hoping someone could tell me exactly what features to turn on to get the best boost before overclocking.

well to get a good picture and good speed, go into the driver tabs that list, all the settings and what not.

1. Turn Anti Aliasing OFF
2. Turn Sideband Adressing OFF
3. Turn V-Sync OFF
4. Set it from BEST QUAILTY to BEST PERFORMANCE

*Overclock the mem by 3 mhz till it looks crappy or will not run, then back it off my 5 to be safe. Once you got that Start doing the same with the core till it is crappy or will not run, that back off my 5 also.

*all of this is done my going into the display settings, and advanced, and i think it is additional properties. it is the screen where all the tabs at the top are driver realted and stuff.

And turn off every program from backround except explorer and system tray.

Tried that. There are several background programs that will not let me shut them off. Printer spools and other printer utilities won't let me shut them down. Same with at least one norton anti virus thing.

Jason, THAT is pretty much exactly what I was looking for.

I just tested out my memory in sandra and found that it is doing that really low score thing again. Damn, I thought I had that solved already. That's probably part of my low 3dmark score problem.

tyr to set the comnmand rate in BIOS to 1t, and 4 way bank interleave if its not already.

also tell me this run at 800x600 32 bit and tell me the VERY FIRST FPS that the FIRSYT test shows. So i can compare to mine and maybe help u more

ALso im at 1530 mhz only 10 more than u but i am at 10x153, i saw quite a bit of difference (less) when i ran at 10.5x146, and it is still smae speed overall, the mem seems to make a big difference. ALWAYS TAKE SPEED OVER TIMINGS, meaning if you cann run at 10x153 normal settings, and 10.5x145 turbo settings go for 10x153 TRUST ME

u could get NVMAX or RIVATUNER and play around with some settings like the mipmap LOD BIAS and anisortopy filter or S3TC for openGL. if u decide to get one of both many people can help u adjusting these settings.

Providing you can keep cas latency at 2 or are able to raise FSB substantially.

If you can't close those programs when they are loaded you can choose not to load them at windows start up. This option can be found from system information utility.

Edit:
Did some measuring today:
-lowering multiplier with 0.5 means 3MHz FSB increase needed for about same 3D Mark2001 result.
-raising RAS to CAS delay from 2 to 3 (otherwise as CL2 turbo) means 4MHz FSB increase needed.
So to get better result 8MHz is the minimum FSB increase needed if CPU can't be o/ced more.
