I have a cm stacker with a bix3 mounted in the front. The bix3 leaves me with only two 5" drive bays. These are taken up by my dvd/cd drive and the stacker's i/o panel. The only tools I own are a drill, wire clippers and a soldering iron so I need to find a place to put it that doesn't involve to much modding.
I've been looking at my case and have thought of a few places but I have no clue if my ideas are any good. I'm relatively new at this so forgive me if they are all terrible.
#1
I could mount it on some 3" screws in the bottom rear of my case where the 2nd power supply would go. This would make my pair of 80mm intake fans double as a hd cooler but it might be bad for the vibration.
#2
I have the i/o panel above the dvd drive and the i/o panel is just a faceplate with loads of wires so I could attach some rubber feet to the hd and sit it ontop of the dvd drive.
#3
I could wire up my own power/reset buttons, mount them in the stacker's plastic topping and put the hd in the freed up bay. This sounds like it would be the most practical solution but I'm not confident that I could cut the plastic accuratly.
Do any of those sound worth pursuing and does anyone have any better suggestions?
