Hey Guyz,

I just finished building my new PC,"The Beast!"

Configuration:

Abit VP6 Motherboard
Two Intel Pentium III 1Ghz Processors
IBM DESKSTAR ATA-100 60GXP 41GB Harddrive
Gainward GeForce 3 CARDEXPERT! Powerpack w/ VIVO
Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum
40x Acer Cd-Rom Drive
Addtronics 6890A Case

Cooling:
2 Cooler Master Heatsinks w/ Fans
1 Case Fan

Ok now I already managed to overclock these processors to 1125Mhz by just raising the FSB to 150Mhz in Softmenu, but what I really desire is getting to atleast 1.2Ghz. So I was reading through articles and they continually mention voltage as a factor, but if I increase voltage should I change to something like water cooling? I mean what exactly will increasing the voltage do?
I am also considering switching to some good heatsinks or to water cooling, but Swifttech wants me to put silicon all over my motherboard if I want to use water cooling with a peltier to prevent condensation. I really am looking for good cooling. Also I am looking at all means of overclockign these processors to squeeze all their worth out of them. So please any advice you have is appreicated.

First off, you only should increase the voltage if you have stability problems when you're overclocking. Second, raising voltage increases heat. Third, it's harder to overclock dual procs. Fourth, why spend big bucks buying peltiers and watercooling when you already have a great overclocked system. You probably won't get that much higher anyway.

What are your CPU load temps? Also, much higher than 150 FSB and you start running your PCI bus quite a bit out of spec which also hurts stability. I say, be happy with what you have. That's a great overclock for a dual proc system. If you're at default voltage, then you might be able to tweak a little more out of it with air cooling if you use Arctic Silver thermal paste, lap the heatsinks, add another case fan or two, etc.

I just wanted to make sure that I was doing it right. I am happy wiht what I have but I just want to se if I could push alittle more out of it. Oh and by the way my processors run about 30-45 Degrees Centigrade. Is that a good temp? Anyways thanks for the reply. :-)

Make sure you back up your data on that IBM hard drive often - those suckers are prone to crashing very often.

... Whats the best HD to get though? WD is defenatly a no!

At 150 FSB, I like to keep the coppermine CPUs at 40 degrees or less when at full load. You never said what your voltage is set at, but if you're still at default, then if you do a few more cooling mods, you should be able to go a little higher. I'm guessing 1.2 gig is probably an unrealistic goal for a dual proc system if you want it to be rock stable, but I bet you could make 1150 MHz.

I like the IBM 60GXP series harddrives, I have two of those in the 40 gig flavor too. They're fast, quiet, and are overclocking friendly.

They have a guy, nando, posting over at hardocp that has a dual P3 running at 1330 with the cD0 stepping P3 1000E procs. You might be able to get more out of your system, but watch for data corruption on your hard drives due to the high pci bus speeds.
