View Full Version : How to overclock the 1Ghz T-bird
HEy
I have an 1Ghz Athlon AXIA FSB266 and i want to know how to open the multiplier of this CPU. I know that the L1 bridges must be connected but i want to know how to do that.

If it is not already connected the L1 bridges that is what has to be done, then use a #2, or #3 pencil and connect the unconnected L1 brides the the correct ones across from it.
it will look liek this :::: it needs to be l l l l, hope that helps
There are a few ways to do this. Either using a hard pencil, conductice ink or soldering.
Pencil; Easy but not always permanent and reliable.
Conductive ink; Not too hard but if you slip it can kill the chip if you dont get it off before it dries.
Soldering; Dont even think about trying this unless you hace lots of experience of soldering Surface mount components. You WILL melt the chip!
It realy is as simple as it sounds, but dont jump in, have a look in the Reviews and Tips" section linked doen the right (edit: left!) side of the front page. Look under Overclocking Experiences and Tips" and "CPU reviews and tips" There are a few good beginers guides there.
Good luck and have fun!
Mike
Thanx for helping me i try that pencil trick later and when it works
i post it here. i think it must be realy hard pencil to do that trick. OK i try this out

My friend tried the same pencil trick also. She has (had) Athlon 900 not anymore.... lots of smoke after raising the multiplier to 10 it was like in tomshardwares video:mad:
My test results under Sisandra 2k1@1.32Ghz

Congratulations on your O/C Dude!! How do your memory test look like? I bet they are on the high side with a 155MHz/310FSB:D :D
How are your temps? Try this(look below) to heat up that chip & everything else on that rig:D
Here is the mem test. Its cheap PQI PC-133 memory :(
My temp is 41-42C idle and 48C @ load
What are your RAM settings? Is 4WAY-INTERLEAVE switched on? They do look a little on the low side. Here is mine at 133MHz/TURBO(tRAS 6, tRP 2, tRCD 2) with 4WAY-INTERLEAVE.
This one is at 143MHz/NORMAL(tRAS 6, tRC 3, tRCD 3) with 4WAY-INTERLEAVE.
I have Win XP this why the scores are not good when i test it under Win ME i got 600 and 605 points. Win XP takes the scores down even the CPU and MMX scores :(
The memory is set to clk2 and all is in turbo mode.

Carmen Kas ROCKS
Whats your 3dmark scores I got 2880 in 2k1 and 4100 in 2k
Carmen Kas is real nice chick:D
Hey again i just wana now whats your CPU scores are in Sisandra....
My 3DMARK 2001 really SUCKS!!! My MX is holding me back big time. Scores didnt change from 1.2GHz to what I run now so the MX is my bottle neck.
Carmen Kas over Giselle Bundchen any day;) Natalia Semanova RULES ALL:D
Here are my CPU marks. I dont have 3DMARK2000.
I mentioned Carmen 'cause she is also an Estonian:)
Its not a bad score I think (i got the same score)
To you have a original MX or MX200/400 I have Mx200 Abit i cant affort beter card right now:(
yeah its a big botleneck not a card:D
Yeah! I know what you mean. It's a plain MX:( I'm trying to earn more money so I can build myself a DDR system with a better video card. Congrats again on your O/C;) Oh yeah just to tease you here are my MultiMedia benchies:p
