My sister is graduating career school and I want to get her a present. She loves the Sims for PC. I would like to purchase for her the Sims 2.

I saw my friends girlfriend playing the Sims 2 for PS2; it looked much better than the remake of sims 1 for ps2.

So which is better, sims 2 for pc or ps2?

I would say buy her Sims 2 for PC. It's not very demanding and I think that using your keyboard and mouse is far easier than the PS2 controller. Plus, if you don't like the music on there you can always have winamp running. If her computer can handle (very likely) then I would say you should definitely go for the PC.

She'll be using my pc for the game. How would the game fair on these specs?
Pentium 4 (non HT) 2.97 ghz
512 mb DDR2 3200 ram
Geforce 5500 fx pci
chaintech av710

She would be running at 1024x768 or lower

Will run fine at 1024 x 768 at those specs. And definately get the PC version, there are a lot of modifications you can do to the PC game, custom objects, clothing, etc. Just check out this site: http://under-your-skin.com

Also, I want to buy her an expansion pack. Which one of the two currently out bring more to the Sims, Nightlife or University?

The PC version is actually better in this case as it is quite different from the console version. A lot was cut and some different stuff was added to make it more story driven, but the console version isn't nearly as open nor customizable as the PC version.

I have it on PSP and it would be decent if not for the load times, but not nearly as good as the PC version.

whoa whoa whoa guys he said she will be playing on HIS PC. You might wanna think about that, while the PC version may be superior do you really want her getting maybe getting super addicted and taking over your PC, just think about it. I mean I bet the PC version is far better but if she is gonna take over your PC you might just wanna get the PS2 version.
