Hi, I have a laptop that had the motherboard go on it, and I am now trying to get the hard drive hooked up using a hard drive enclosure that I bought. The problem is that whenever I plug the new external hard drive that I put together into my desktop, it sees the device, but it will not allow me to access it. About 1 minute after that happens, I get a code 10 error. So my question is if anyone knows how to solve this issue so that I can get my files off of the hard drive. I would greatly appreciate any advice.

I recently had a similar problem. I had one computer that I had to install the drivers on and one that I didn't. Did yours come with drivers?
ST?

no, I dont have any drivers for mine. All it came with was a cd to use the system back up feature of the enclosure.

Maybe get a 2.5" to 3.5" IDE adaptor, and jam that puppy in the system avoiding all that USB stuff. I had the mobo go in my lappy (sad sad day, it was a Alienware area 51 :'( ), so the cpu went to a computer for my dad, and the hdd went into a external enclosure. Didnt need a driver with XP, even though it came with one.

What sort of filesystem was it? NTFS or fat?
