ULTRA Power Supplies?

I had an ULTRA 400w ps in a barebones. It ran faithfully for 2 years till it caught fire one day :mad: . Lucky for me I was sitting here playing a game when it happend. i smelt smoke...looked around and caught a glimpse of fire in the corner of my eye. I could see flames coming from the PS. I unplugged it and managed to save my MOBO...Phew.

I got in touch w/ ULTRA (a division of Tiger direct) and complained. They offered to replace the burnt PS w/ another one....I laughed at them. Why would I want another potential fire hazard?!?!?! They insisted...so I figured I could sell the new one on EBAY. In the mean time I bought a ANTEC 450w smart power, smart choice, and a good investment (learned my lesson about buying cheap parts)

2 weeks later...arrives a 500W XFinity PS from ULTRA! I look up some reviews and changed my mind about selling it. All the reviews I read for it were nearly 10 out of 10. Some got editors choice awards. I kept it, swapped the antec for the ULTRA , cleaner cables, more molex ends for fans, and as quiet as the antec.

Am I a fool?

The X-Finity's are a better unit than the X-Connect's. Not a bad result for you in the end.

Wahoo....I came out on top!

I am so bitter against TigerDirect for a myriad of reasons that I could never imagine a Product that they make would be good and get approved by the good people at OCforums :)

Never used the infinity from ultra, but I've had my x-connect for about a year now and it is the best ps I have owned. considering the price of an x2 or infinity I would not consider it "cheap parts" I've read nothing but great reviews about all thier ps's.
