Im buying another video card and im wondering if the new 7300 will be any faster or better than a 6600, they both cost the same

I'd either get the 6600 or bump up to a 6600GT. Wider memory interface plus they overclock really well.

i bought a 6600 512MB (ebay) for 138.89$ and i can hit 372MHz core clock, and 696MHz memory clock with stock cooling. which is really good for stock cooling. noise is a factor with the 6600 though.

not all, only the ones with high rpm fans, in my case its silent "heatpipe cooling" :) also more effective to me :)

7300GS is such a joke. You would be better off with a 6200TC than a 7300GS. Do yourself a favor and get either a 6600 or a 6800gs

X800GTO would destroy anything else mentioned so far by a wide margin.

Well, what kind of games do you plan on playing and at what resolution with what image enhancement options?
If you want to play the latest games at at least 1024x768 with 8xAF and 2xAA, then you'll want at least a 6600GT. If you might want to play some of your favorite classic games (like the original Half Life or Rollercoaster Tycoon or Command and Conquer Red Alert), then a 7300 or 6600 would be fine.

i hope when you say latest games you're not talking about fear cod2 or bf2.
bf2 on a 64 player game you cant turn on AA AF and run all high without getting fps drops in the 10s (wich means youll be dead before knowing what hit you)
6600gt in mp games is fine with all high xept lighting AA AF and shadows.
The bench tests you see on the net are mostly single player games. Rendering 8 players shooting at each other is nothing compared to 64 players +artillery drops grenades tanks apcs etc.
But yes a 6600gt is pretty good for running the latest games with decent graphics quality.
Friend got his for 120$cnd a while back and its doing great for that price!
But do some good shopping alot of places are still selling them for way too much.
6600gt = great card compared to most BUT its pretty much the bare minimum to run any new games with graphics that dont look like theyre from 2-3 years back.
Med/low graphs on bf2 < bf 1942 with everything on high :P
