Saw this new demo posted today for another FPS but what caught my eye were the cinematics, and how amazing they look from the screenshots I saw! Looks kind of like a cross between Quake and Max Payne I say, but maybe you say different.

Demo is of 1 single player level... cue the link! Getting 600K/s as we speak

This game kills my system. I was pulling 35-45 frames @ 1025 x 7xx with AA off and quality on Good. The game play to me feels kind of clunky. Maybe it's just my system. Anyone else have any thoughts? The demo takes about 5minutes to go through too. It's about a 1/4 of the length of fears demo.

I do understand how you may say that it's a FEAR rip off based on the screenshots and written description. I feel it's best to expose your opinion AFTER you tried the demo. That way you reinforce your opinion with experience from the demo. Meanwhile just started downloading it a minute ago. Got 13 minutes to go.

Initially, the graphics look awesome. I'm more impressed by how great of detail it's in (Again based on SS's). Lol. The screenshots got my attention for sure. Meanwhile awaiting download.

Well, gameplay wasn't too exciting. Usage of different time usages, weren't too impressive. Graphics were pretty decent. Was stuck for a good bit trying to figure out how to pass the first stage part. Argh! Also demo is a bit short. With that said, I'm gonna have to give support on the fact that this game might turn people off because of how very similiar it is to FEAR. Yes I agree.

How is it a FEAR rip off? This game was in development well before Fear was released.

And btw, the slowmo feature is one aspect of a suite of time shifting abilities(hence the name). If you say its a rip off of FEAR because of the slow mo mode, then FEAR is a rip off of Max Payne(which made "bullet time" famous). You're an idiot.

First, FEAR is an FPS, Max Payne is a TPS--big difference. Second, mainstream acceptance of bullet time was done by The Matrix, not by some unknown game that no one other than gamers knows about.

Your an idiot.

I know what you mean Gambl3r. Maybe the demo is just buggy. I also noticed a volume problem. Character voices are extremely quiet but enviromental sounds are very loud (This was at default settings).

Cool off fellas.

Well I beat the first level and only level, very short. It short of has fear like aspects but you can't really say it's a knock off. The game engine is alright, but I hate how slow your guy moves compared to the enemy and the aiming. Pretty average demo though the least that they could of included was maybe another level or multiplayer. It really reminded me of this older game called GORE Lol.

Time Shifting = Slow Down, Stop Time, Reverse Time. Sort of Fear/Prince Of Persia like. You use it to get by certain things in your way (Walk through Fire = Stop Time....Shut off force field gate & then run through it = Stop Time) Etc. I'm not real sure on this, they kind of ruined the demo by making it so freaking short.

FYI Max Settings = Bogs your system big time ala slide show. There not crap by any means, but I wasn't really impressed. Flame Thrower flames look nice.

NOTE: There is a known issue with sound card drivers that is not documented in the readme. The side effect is reduced frame rate which manifests as a "stuttering" when you enter different EAX domains and other sound effects start cycling. But, there is a simple work around:

Update your sound card drivers. Ninety percent of the time this is the issue. We use a very advanced sound system for the 10,000 lines of dialogue, and often your sound card drivers are not up to date (or worse yet are the default windows drivers).

We also employ the use of an advanced autodetect system to calibrate the game for your video settings. On some configurations the system breaks down and assigns funny settings based upon bad information it gathers from drivers. We are working on improving this system for the full version of the game but until then consider going through the settings and manually adjusting them.

Here are the biggest performance-effecting settings:

1) Resolution (Consider reducing it)
2) Material Quality (This is what shader model you're using; a lesser one would decrease visual quality but increase performance.)
3) Reflections (Consider turning it off to improve framerate)
4) Anti Aliasing (Consider reducing it or switching it off)

Has more of Quake feel than a FEAR. Here is a screenshot 1920x1200.
