I'm primarily a gamer. I have a kn8 sli. I have two SATA2 drives that I want to put in raid 0 for storage of movies/music/drafting docs/etc... I have two raptors, one for the OS and one for games.

Does it matter what channels on the motherboard that I put the hard drives in at all?

Also, I have a dual channel PCI sata card lying around from a upgrade on my office's computer; is there a substantial difference between the performance of the motherboards onboard controller and that of the PCI cards?

This question probably belongs in another section but I'll post it here while I'm at it. I've never really tried to setup a swap file of any sort before. In short, what's it's purpose? Will help for gaming? And what's the ideal way to set it up.

Thanks in advance.

Go with onboard controllers as they will have higher bandwidth.

It shouldnt matter what channels the drives are in.

The thing I do is only have the main drive connected when installing windows and then after everything is setup add the drives one at a time so the drive letters do not get messed up.
