I had a question on this website, whether it is legal or not to do this. Normally you have to pay for virusscan updates...
http://www.neilslade.com/virusscanupdate.html ..
at there it shows you a place to get it for free, it seems to be from mcafee.com, so tahts why I figured it was legal, but then again I thought it was like $20 a month, someone clear this up for me? (not a big deal, just curious)

superdat only works for certain versions of mcafee virus scan. I have virus scan enterprise 8, and i know it works for that, but on the mcafee website, there's a warning PLEASE READ FIRST
Do not download these updates if you are a subscriber of:
• McAfee VirusScan
• McAfee Personal Firewall
I guess if your subscription is expired, it couldn't hurt to try, but I'll bet superdat has some sort of thing that checks for subscription status
It doesn't check your subscription status but if you do not have a valid subscription you are breaking the terms and conditions of the use of the software. Also the supredat will not upgrade you to a newer version of the software.
Maybe McAfee have decided that as they release a newer version of their software faster than most subscriptions run out, it is not worth putting extra effort into controlling downloads of virus signatures and small engine upgrades.
