hey if you don't want the old one i'll take it. PM me if you're up for it. That new card looks like a sweet card. Have you had any problems with it?

you know what, suprisingly this is the first piece of hardware i have bought (retail that is :p) that i have had absoutley zero problems with. i popped in the card, installed drivers (took long enough:mad: ) and everything is working beatuifuly :)

awesome man

hey I'm on onboard sound, and was debating whether i should invest in an audigy.

would i notice a huge difference in games? or just overall?

and should i get an MP3+ or a Gamer? what's the difference? any more performance between the two?

thanks!

this sound card is worth the investment, my games have gained an extra 10fps because the soundcard takes some of the load off the cpu. and everything sounds better. im better at games because now 4 sounds can play at the same time :) (ex. you can hear footseps, the ambiant sounds, and gunfire, all at the same time without one cutting out so another could play :))

the MP3+ and the Xgamer are the exact same card, just the software is different

MP3+: comes with mp3 software and audio editing software

Xgamer: comes with Game of the year edition Deus Ex and Giants: Citizen Kabuto (both full version :)), and some basic mp3 ripping/encoding software.

i got the xgamer, 2 free games, what a deal :) hehe

So Big Red what are you going to do with that old sound card?(really desperate for one). If you don't want to give it up i can understand.

great! thanks man

alright the only thing discouraging me at this point would be the VIA issues I've heard.

what are the symptoms concerning IRQ's?

if I wasn't scared of that, I might just pick on up at the local EB

Hitman: check your pm

Creacher: i just tried using my audigy on my other system, it has an abit pv6x4 with a via 133a chipset and it worked perfectly, installed without a problem.

Edit: and i just thought of this, lol my asus board im using now has a via chipset :) ive had no problems on my 2 boards, plus im sure theres a fix on creatives site if there is a problem :)

Big Red,

Hmm sounds good I wanna replace my Soundblaster pci128,

Would this card be the same as what you have minus the software and it being OEM ( but it has firewire

"SB Live! Value Audigy Dolby digital 5.1 with SB1394 firewire OEM"

Or would one of these be the better choice

$138 SB Live! Audigy MP3+ 5.1 Dolby Digital retail
$149 SB Live! Audigy X-Gamer 5.1 Dolby Digital retail

These prices are Canadian so do not be shocked LOL

From what you are saying I wanna upgrade my sound even though I have a via board cause ya mentioned not a problem.

All the audigy cards are the same
(except for the platnium ex, its the same card but just the connections on the back are different cuz it has the external drive thing)

the OEM card is just that, the card and the drivers disk
the mp3+ and the xgamer have extra software
like i said the mp3+ has some fancy music/sound editing software and the xgamer comes with the 2 games i mentioned up there :)

btw: all the audigy cards have firewire, you see the gold plug at the lower left corrner of my picture? thats the firewire port, plus that big one at the top-middle of the card is an internal firewire port :)

:D

I would highly recommend replacing your SB PCI128 if you like to listen to MP3's.

I was using one of those until I hooked up my new Game Theater XP yesterday and the sound difference is very noticable.

I think the sound quality of the Audigy's may be better than the Game Theater, at least they are if you go by the specs for each.

I was about to buy an Audigy, but when a $69 shipped Game Theater XP popped up I had to go for it:)

OEM SB audigy = $60 + $10 shipping

you could have gotten an audigy for $1 more :p

I didn't want the basic card. I wanted something with a break-out box, so I would have had to get the Platinum which as you know is much more expensive than $69:p

BTW, do the Audigy's come with external break-out boxes now, or are they still internal?

I highly agree with you guys. If u listen to mp3s or like to feel your games, then u gotta experience the audigy. :D

and scooby.. u coulda got the audigy mp3+ like i did for $75 when staples was doing that promotion thing. Im not sure if there still doing it, but checkout there website.

scooby, only the audigy platinum has a break-out box. the rest are internal, just like the live.

I dont understand why is it interesting listening 4 sounds (music) at the same time. My Live 5.1 (and the old value too) can do it as well. Or i can open 5 winamps, and listen to 5 different music at the same time. (But i cant bear 5 music at the same time :) )

But no doubt the audigy is a very very cool soundcard. I'll have one later...
