hey i was looking on evgas website comparing prices to that of neweggs prices and found that the difference in price on evga 7800gt is like $449 where as the same card on neweggs site is $314 so thats a differnce of like $130 and the other cards are simular in price cuts so would that mean a 7800gs would cost around $240 cause the evga site states $379 for a top of the line GS model?

would you be better off upgrading to a 7800gt instead and going pci express or just stick with the agp as my brand new x800gto just took a dump on me good old RMA got to love it....with a new card about to hit the market...

That is not how it works, newegg can sell the cards at whatever price they wish, while evga sells them at msrp, evga could sell at a lower price like newegg but why would they compete against themselves.

In business it is a rarity to find a manufacturer who will undercut their distributors. Most manufacturers sell at MSRP, and most have contracts with retailers that they will not undercut them. Distributors also buy in volume at discount prices and pass that savings on to the buyer. Because they buy in such large volumes the manufacturer normally gives them a special price and a contract. They win because they sell alot of units, and the distributor wins because he gets these units at a price he can make money on while still being able to sell them because of the good price that is passed on to the buyer. It's just good business you are seeing. :)
