depends on the model.
Mostly Enhance. The ST56ZF is Etasis.

thinking of the strider model.

Know Nuttin is right, Enhance and a few Etasis. The Etasis models in particular are the best, the ST56ZF happens to be one of my favorites.

Those should be Enhance made. Model #?

I think this is the strider 600w -> http://www.enhance.com.tw/dbase/upload-img/ENS0560G-catalogue.jpg

That one should be Enhance made. Above average quality.
What will you be powering with this PSU?
jarthel
02-02-06, 07:41 PM
lowly amd3000+ winchester running at 2.3Ghz
1 250Gb sata 2
2x 10k rpm scsi fujitsu
ati 9800se
abit av8
Though I am planning to upgrade once conroe or m2 comes out and prices goes down to realictic and affordable range

The Strider 600w will be more than enough then. Just wanted to ensure that you weren't thinking SLI and heavy duty Intel P4/P-D overclocking. :)

what if I decided to go to X2 + sli 7800GT? would 600W be enough?
Know Nuttin
02-02-06, 08:09 PM
it might not be. 12v3 is limited to 16A, and that is powering the PCI-E and motherboard. nVidia spec's the 7800GT's to 85w.

what's a good, stable and quiet PSU for an X2 (and future processors like conroe or M2) and an sli setup (not the best but possibly 2nd-3rd best)?
thank you

I'd stick with the Zeus models for SLI - the 600W and 650W are Enhance while the 560W, 750W, and upcoming 850W are Etasis. Personally, I would stick to the Etasis models with a strong suggestion to look at the 560W in particular, but the Enhance models are decent as well.

The quietest single rail +12v PSU that I am aware of would be an OCZ Powerstream 520w. This will handle SLI and all your other components with no worries.

By the way, the 560w he speaks of is the ST56ZF model I mentioned earlier.

looking at the silverstone right now.
not as expensive as the PC&C but possibly 90% of the performance. maybe more.

The ST56ZF doesn't appear to be as stable with the regulation as the PC P&C 510W, but it is definitely more powerful and I daresay every bit as solidly built. I would have bought one in a heartbeat myself over the new Fortron in my sig had they been available in Canada a month ago.
These things are going to get popular methinks ;)

Hopefully! I got one maybe a month ago off your recommendation and have been preaching them ever since. At the price of the OCZ Powerstream these things are a steal. Of course the Powerstream still has its strong points, depending on your personal tastes.

Yeah... externally adjustable rails, warranty/customer service, and maybe regulation stability (if you don't count the PS520's problems with high 3.3v/5v loads) are all big plusses for the Powerstream; but to be honest I wouldn't look twice at a Powerstream or any other Topower unit if I saw an OEM Etasis sitting next to it for the same price. And I'd probably feel the same way about Etasis if I saw a Zippy sitting nearby (though that decision would be much harder).
My opinions of course, these are all reasonably close in build quality.
What is interesting is that Etasis has released a semi-fanless 560W that works much like the Antec Phantom 500W. I hope the price and noise level when the fan comes on isn't too high - the Phantom 500W competes with too many fanned units that are cheaper as it is.

From the pictures, looks like the review came back good.

If someone knows what the price this site has listed, can we get a conversion so we have a rought estimate of current street price.

His post in a nutshell:
Zippy > Etasis > Topower
Etasis being the Silverstone 560w and Topower being the OCZ Powerstream 520w. And Zippy being...Zippy.

Hehehe - I don't speak German myself ;)
I don't like how hot it got, so I probably won't ever put that one on my shopping list, but it looks like it did ok. Dollars to donuts though Silverstone is going to add it sooner or later - their other fanless model is Etasis already.
FWIW, it's rated 32A@12v - still decently powerful.
Going slightly off topic, I just found out thanks to Sparkle's website my 600W FSP is actually rated for full power at 50 degrees. Happy about that, but the 650W is rated full power at 40 degrees. The 700W Epsilon is at 25 degrees. Interesting - I may not be recommending the 700W Epsilon too often over the 600W. Especially since mine has "FSP700-80GLC" written all over the PCB's inside.
Zippy > Etasis > Topower
I'd put PC P&C/Win-Tact, Delta, LiteOn, Fortron, Enhance, and Seasonic somewhere in there too but it's hard to recommend some of these over others. They're all pretty good to excellent quality ;)

so even though you purchased the fsp600. Inside it says fsp700? so you got a under rated 700w psu, they lowered to 600?

I'm starting to wonder about it, yes. Unfortunately I would need a 700W right next to me to compare the two side by side to know for sure what the differences are. They're probably not just the same PSU downrated - Fortron isn't really known to play games like that.
Then again, they are marketing the AX500-A as an implied 500W PSU, so it's hard to say for sure.

compare 600 vs 700

(looks identical minus the voltage difference)
P.S not a bad deal. good price IMHO.
the egg does not have the fsp600 so I checked diretrons site.

Careful with the GLC's - mine doesn't have PCI-E connectors but it does have a ton of drive molexes. 9 hard drive and one floppy. In addition to the two SATA connectors. The wiring to the drive molexes is all 20 guage - won't handle PCI-E adaptors well. The only place to find 12v4 on mine is at the 20+4 pin modular ATX connector - I will need to solder new wiring in there for my PCI-E connectors. The 8 pin EPS connector does not split apart.
You'd have to get the Epsilons or Sparkle models if you want to be assured of getting PCI-E connectors on these. The GLC/GLN line itself has four models from 550W to 700W - all rated at 15Ax4@12v. No idea what the combined rating for the 650W and 550W are, but my guess would be about 46A and 36A respectively.
