I just aquired a Dell TrueMobile 1150 pcmcia card for my notebook yesterday, and am noticing a drop in network performance.

The last card, was a US Robotics 44100 I believe, which is a b/g card. The TrueMobile, is a b-only card, but is a Orinoco gold OEM rebrand. I was hoping to get better range with running the Dell card than with this US Robotics, but this isn't the case so far.

When in my room, which is where my wifi router is, the Dell card is constantly dropping the connection, within every 10-30 seconds. The US card, works perfecty. Also, when at work, I could sit in the parking lot during lunch, and read my mail with the US card. With the Dell, it picks up the network, but wont let me connect. Dell card program tells me the signal is too low.

I have tried adjusting the channels, the signal on my router, and reinstalling the Dell drivers that came with the card.

Any ideas?

Ok, this has been a blast lol.

Spent most of last night, trying to find a suitable firmware/driver AND utility that will work together. All of the versions I have found online, from Agere and dell, don't work for diddly. The Agere(sp?) ones, seem to be the newest I can find anywhere, from like '03.

Dells driver set is from '01.

When I install the ones from dell, it tells me this driver will not work with this version of Client Manager, and to upgrade my drivers. Ok, so, from where? :bang head

Install the Agere pair, and it tells me there is no wifi card found. at all. even after MULTIPLE reinstalls of the driver and utility, in different orders.

This is really agravating me, as this was supposed to be a pretty decent card, being the orinoco gold OEM.

Iunno, help?

Did you try reversing the antennas? It does make a difference which plug it goes into.
