Hey I'm just wondering if anyone here plays Tribes 2 and what kind of video card they have and their framerate. This good old Voodoo 4 just isn't cutting it anymore and I want to either dish our the cash for a GeForce 3 Ti500 or a Radeon 8500. I am just interested to know how each card performs on this game. Does anybody have either card and play Tribes 2? Could you tell me your framerate and how your card handles the game? Thx.

hmm..both cards would be great as they are both optimized for Direct x 8. Which Tribes 2 uses..I currently have a Radeon 64 Sdr (non DDR) with 550mhz athlon at 611mhz and T2 runs fine, even when hosting server...with like 7 botz!
on 56k coonection to.( I play with a friend.)

However teh 8500 is catching up with TI500, but it has buggy drivers( well until teh new ones are released), buts its cheaper than teh TI500, its fine and 8500 almost beat teh TI500, and thats with buggy drivers too...(actualy almost beta drivers) so think of what it can do with good drivers.
I will be getting a Radeon DDR vivo 64 meg for one of the pcs that I will be building ( if my budget holds up) I feel your pain with the 3dfx cards, My V3 had alot of graphic glitchs when u zoomed and tried to snipe someone...(sometimes the person was behind a wall others they were not) I even used teh Wicked GL drivers with out any graphic improved ment howver the framrate shot up..

The rig I have in my sig plays Tribes 2 flawlessly. I have EVERY setting turned on max and I never notice my fps dropping too low. I think I average 30-40 outside.

My parents rig is a pentium3 1ghz with a geforce2 gts 32mb card. I have the visibility set to max along with textures, sky turned on really low, and most details set around half. It runs at probably 30fps outside too.

Just remember that you need at least 256 megs of ram (512 recommended especially with win2k) and a decent processor. Tribes2 will eat up processor power more than any game I have ever seen.

Oh, and Kelley Asay, one of the developers, is an a**hole. That's some unsolicited information for you.:D

I've been playing Tribes2 since it was released on my system:

KK266, 1.33 Tbird @ 1.52, Radeon LE oc/d to 180/180 and can rum Tribes 2 without any problems.

I usually get around 30-40 FPS outside and 60-90 FPS on the inside. I have all the options on full and have no problem playing games with 40+ players. All that with a video card that cost me about 67.00 USD. Awesome card. It will soon be retired though since I got in on the Dell deal for the 8500 and it just shipped so I'll let you know how it goes when I get it next week.
