Not sure what make and model, but mine was made by Go/Dan Industries, mostly what Pep Boys carries, it's dimensions are 6"x11"x2" copper.

just go for the biggest and ones made from copper, you cant really go wrong

just stick it outside against the wall and bore some holes through the side of the house. If it's a BIG one that is! :)

I heard somewere about a guy using a radiator outside or something like that. Silly stuff. :D

Actually, if I remeber correctly cores out of most midsized to small cars are good in size. just not to sure how many car Heater cores have copper fins etc.. hmmm...you'd have to ask on that one.

hum. i wish i had the luxury of messing up my walls... actually, im glad i dont! most people want somewhat concealed cooling setups. mine will look like a little mid-tower POS sitting in my desk. no one can tell, and that's what i want.

get a sized heater core that fits what you want.

how much do heater cores go for at a place like pep boys?? is it worth it to buy from there instead of a scrap yard because of quality?

Mine cost $25, buying it from a shop prevents you from having to look for leaks and cracks, corrosion in the pipes and other nasty stuff that you may encounter from a junk yard liberated heater core.

Some people say they've found heater cores for $15.

Hopefully Autozone will let me go digging through some boxs to see them lol. Thanks for the link Shep, gave me some ideas on about what size i need.I am going to be putting my setup in an Antec sx1040b,Im either going to put the heater core in the top of the case with fans similar to the koolance case setup or remove the bottom 3.5 drive cage and put it there.By looking at the cooling forum it seems everyone is going aqua now where as a couple months ago it was all about big high speed fans and ducts.I love technology:p

does heater cores perform better than radiators manufactured for computer watercooling ?

Some do some don't

It goes both ways. It all depends on the construction, how well they radiate heat based on wether they are alluminum or copper cored etc... As well as the size and length of the pipe running through it!

So, one is not nessesarily better then the other. just that ones made for computers tend to be the right size to get them into your computer the auto part ones sometimes need work.

It's a matter of budget and class! What do you preffer. I've seen a few fellas with auto heater cores running systems cooler then the next guy with a cube but it's all in how you put it together.

I am gonna get a heater core from a 1989 z24 cavalier.... it si a very respectable size and with a few 120's attached - it should work great for cooling - it is my next mod to set up.....

im going to try a couple of quite 80's on mine and see how it does,if i can get the temps i have right now with my sk6 i will be happy.I just want to cut out the noise issue all together.
