Epox + Mic?

I just built this system not to long ago (2 months). Any how, I was wanting to connect the mic on my headset in just to try it out... only trouble is, its not detecting. I tried it on my old system, and it worked fine, came back and tried it on this system, nothing. I checked the settings for the mic, they seem fine. The only difference between the audio inputs on the two systems is I am using a CreativeLabs card (Its fairly old) on my old system, and using the built in audio on the Epox 9npa Ultra+ motherboard. On a side note, the headset works, its just the mic that is not working. Any advice would be greatly admired.

WinXP mutes the mic by default :o
