Ever since I brought in the huge 21" CRT, I've been beginning to notice static on my headphones and such whenever I refresh the frame really quickly by hitting the page up and down, and it starts producing static randomly sometimes, too. Would a proper sound card solve this?

Your headphones weren't designed to be used within a range of a tv/monitor. You need shielded drivers to minimize distortion.

Also if you have a phone near by try moving it far away.

Try this first before you spend money...

Play a song. Go into volume properties (double click the speaker icon) and mute everything that does not stop playback.

While you think the monitor is messing with it, this is random too. My onboard sound would be staticky (word?) every other format... each case this fixed it. Worth a shot.

Maybe try plaing some music and while that is going unplug your monitor power to see if that does anything.
