That would make for an interesting project. I should get one of these, set up my Pentium 100mhz computer and see how long it takes to fry it :D

Haha yeah... maybe find a way to hook it directly into the rails. 100,000v on the 12v rail... and people said an Athlon 64 at 2.0v is too much. :p

Now if that would be W, I would be all over it :D ...No more need to buy a good PSU, just order 10 of these for your lifetime!

Well, that is the reason I would buy one. It would go great in a movie! Me and Aiden are going to make a movie for some contest in the summer, and he has to make a movie for a film class. I would love to be part of a stunt like that. :p

Perhaps you used it in the wrong place?

maybe he took out the batteries(or whatever energy it uses), and stabbed himself. but i think the real question is, how do you miss?

I'd buy one but I have a sneaking suspicion that a flake friend of mine will want to "test" it on me (she almost did that with some pepper spray I had but wound up spraying herself in the face when she tried to keep me from grabbing it). I'm fairly sure they're also "illegal" on campus.

I can just see it now... a thread in the Volt Modding / Circuitry area titled "My 100,000 volt mod"

I can just see all those capacitors exploding

I almost got one of these until I checked these guys up on ResellerRatings. They're 8+ lifetime and last 6 months, but all of the recent reviews are awful. Apparently they send out obviously used or refurbished merchandise and take their sweet time doing it. I just didn't like the sound of these guys, but that's such a cool offer, I almost took it...

Off topid, is that a male or female hand in the picture. Honestly, look at it, can you tell?

I don't know if I would feel safe using a stungun that only costs 16 bucks. Let just say that I hope your not caught in a situation where your life depends on this thing.

You can take it in your checked luggage, but not your carryon baggage.

I once bought a girlfriend one of these and took her car to do an errand, she had the thing wedged in the drivers seat with the prongs facing up toward my butt, Yup... Somehow it turned on when I adjusted the seat and I zapped the cr@p out of myself with the car still in gear. Car rolled about 15 feet before I figured out what happened. I took it out, put it on the pavement and proceeded to crush it with the car tires.
I had contemplating giving her a mini Glock or an Air Taser I had laying around, but instead gave her a can of pepper spray instead. It would suck if I shot myself in the butt with a glock, so the pepper spray was the only option.

Thats hilarious :) I bought from these guys before, and seeing that i live in san jose shipping should be next day however, it took a couple days to deliver. i was working all day so i couldnt use the local pick up option. Their stuff is dirt cheap, but so is the quality of most of the items. Im not sure if i would trust a stun gun for 16 bucks....besides, i know my room mates will get drunk and use it on me ahahhah.

Quaxor
02-07-06, 02:22 PM
Now, when you guys say you don't trust the quality, do you just mean how powerful it is?

brickout
02-07-06, 02:50 PM
^^^No, the actual QUALITY is of concern. For how cheap it is, do you think they used top-shelf components? Compare prices with other tasers out there.

I wouldn't touch one of those even if it's turned off.

And as far as using these as pranks or to make cool videos, please think for a few seconds. Similar stun guns have been in the press since their inception for causing numerous deaths and serious injuries under normal use.

Maybe I had better think twice about coming to that lan party in Shelton...
Or bring plenty of Bawls. I was an enforcer at PAX'05 and got free Bawls the whole weekend. Hardly worked all day, partied all night, and didn't sleep for 3 days. Singlehandledly drank two cases to do so...

When these things first came out in the 90's, my best friend and I both bought the 50,000 volt ones. We were concerned with someone grabbing it and using it on us, so we started shocking ourselves in the leg and arm on a daily basis until we could withstand about 30 secs with no problem.
It would make your whole leg muscle pulsate when you did it.
Also, you could then show a buddy that it was no problem and get them to try it on themselves or let you try it on them - which would send them sprawling!

If you want one but are worried about the people who are selling them, a nice little magazine called Cheaper than Dirt has these exact same things, for the same price. And despite the name Cheaper than Dirt is quality seller, as I have bought a few things from them. I beleive the site is cheaperthandirt.com

I can afford it, but barely... I only have $16.45 in my bank account. *will go to the bank tomorrow to deposit the $40 I got the other day* Then perhaps Zoidberg will be able to shock people!! One of the unis (Ohio State maybe??) did a study and determined that only 1 brand of stun gun on the market actually works (http://www.stingersystems.com/). The rest just ****ed the attacker off w/o actually disabling him in any way.

Did you make that up because if you didn't, can I get her phone number? She sounds like my kinda gal, but don't tell my gf!!

The best story I've heard in a while, next to one the stories my friend just told me the other day...
he was at the mall, taking a crap when a little kid ran into the bathroom (he heard the little, quick footsteps), slipped on some water/**** on the ground, and slid into his stall! The kid then stood up, and my friend, dumbfounded yet laughing to himself, goes "Uh, hi there!" The kid got the crap scared outa him, and crawled back outa the stall. My friend told me this while we were at the bar... I laughed for a good 30 seconds straight.

sweet, i get my check tonight. and have to go to the bank to cash it anyways. plus i need to deposit some money in the bank so i can order me a new HDD.

i think i'll deposit a few extra bucks in the bank just to order this thing.

now i have a sure way to keep my friends awake durring those late night D&D sessions! :D

or when we go play pellet gun wars ( plastic pellets, not metal ones ). And if someone cheats....ZAP! normally we use my gas powered gun as the law-enforcer. if someone cheats, we tackle them, pin him down, lift up his shirt, and shoot him in the chest from about...2 feet away. it will make them bleed, leave a bruise....no one has cheated YET. but thats our plan for when someone does.

so now...we have something even better. we will just zap the hell out of their gun hand!

100% true, I didn't think it was funny at the time, but now I laugh. The reason this happened was the stun gun was a cheap one and had a hair trigger, it just turned on with minimal pressure applied to the trigger.
I also got shot with an Air tazer once, but I knew the electrified darts were coming my way.

Which is worse, the air tazer or the stun guy?

The Air Tazer was less voltage but the probes embed in your body requiring a couple Band Aids :)

I wonder if you connected wire to each of the two conductive heads on the stun gun,and ran those lines to your cars' battery, if it could possibly give a jump start?

I'd buy one for kicks, but I would test it on myself out of curiosity, and I cant afford to fry any more brain cells.

Yeah, those probes can "melt" onto your nipples and get stuck to you. Plus it's easier for the person to keep shocking you when you're corded to the tazer.

Nope, It's very low amperage, high voltage but not enough amps to jump start anything but maybe a model airplane motor, or would be good to ignite a Estes rocket motor :santa:

High Amperage kills, voltage stuns :)

High as in the .05 amps across your heart required to stop it?

Good thing our skin is such a poor conductor, cuz otherwise touching your motherboard may kill!

Well, I had my friend test it on me yesterday on my thigh.. He only did it for maybe a second, but it was like getting stung by a bee times 50. And for a couple minutes afterward, it made my quad feel really tight. I'm gonna go for a couple seconds next time so that I fall to the ground. Then, if I feel like I can handle it,5 seconds. Since that is how long it takes to knock a person down for a couple minutes.
