A very strange problem:

I've been very pleased with my current setup - not anywhere a speed demon, but stable and that's what I'm looking for. However, lately it's been acting up and, as I'm no whiz by any means I seek help. Last night I lost my wireless connection and after verifying that it wasn't the cable co.'s fault, the system crashed and would go no further than the Windoze splash screen before starting all over again. (It would boot into safe mode but I saw nothing there that helped). I took it into the local shoppe this morning and right away it booted fine and was steady as a rock <hmmm>.

I have it back again and it's working fine. Some notes tho': It boots into Windoze *much* faster in the shoppe than it does at home. I'm not running it in a sauna or anything dumb like that but I do use a UPS (major name brand but I forget the name just now).

Is it at all possible that my UPS isn't supplying the power it should be? Never heard of this before but I can't think of anything that would be different in environments between the shoppe and home that could account for these symptoms, anyone else? Thanks!!

James

Well, that's always possible. It's also possible that the circuit (in your house) that you have the computer hooked up to may be overstressed. Generally each floor, or circuit, is only set up for around 50 amps, that's used by every electronic device plugged in on that floor or circuit.

First I would remove the UPS all together to see if that's the issue. I personally don't see why anyone who doesn't use there computer for a home based business even uses one. But, whatever, people wonder why I won't switch from CRT so there you go.

well - thought I'd post an update:

I changed my keyboard - a simple PS2 BenQ for a USB Saitek Eclipse and *all* my problems seem to have vanished! Never in my wildest dreams would have thought of this - just a happy coincidence that it has cleared up the problems! Thanks all!
