My gForce FX5700LE 256mb has 3 ports on it, VGA, DVI, and S-Video. I just ordered a second 19" LCD, and I kinda assumed that the DVI port could be used independant from the VGA, but when I play with the settings, it only lists the VGA port and the S-video port (TV).

Can I run 2 monitors off the VGA and DVI (using a DVI-VGA adaptor), or do I need to get a PCI videocard? I wont be doing dual display gaming, it is for increasing my workspace for website and graphic design, maybe watching a video on the second while I work on the first.

DVI will not show up until a monitor is hooked up.

Great, thanks for the info. I always wondered how Windows knew my monitor's make... I never realised that the video ports are in/out. I kinda just thought the signal was pumped out, and that is it, wether there is a monitor attached or not.

Videocard hardware is a weak point in my computer hardware knowledge.
