There are some buttons on another forum I visit and they are really quite handy and could eliminate the sig problem, length wise, not actual file size, so if that is also a problem this may not work.

These tags are quite amazing and I can get the code if anyone agrees that it would make a nice addition.
The way i see it is that people could put their system in the tags, then other misc. things on the outside, so it would still be small but have more info.
Your idea was suggested quite recently in a similar form here http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=435909
It basically increases the work mods have to do since they have to click open everyone's hidden portion of their sig to ensure compliance.

:O
Well I think the extra work would be very very small. There are tons of mods now, im sure they can get another just for sig policing, or the other mods just do the work. Make stricter rules for breaking the sig rules, its an awesome idea the only potential and legitimate reason i can see for it not working is bandwidth, but I cant see this adding too much more, and being a large forum like it is, im sure we have pleanty of bandwidth.

What about using something like this for just regular quote tags? That way, you can quote an entire article off of another site and not have the 1st page be 100ft long (can you even measure thread length in feet? :D ).
Basically I'm saying, for regular (non-sig) use...why not?
Maybe a quote and a condensed_quote tag?
It doesn't sound like a great idea to me because it still requires the mods to check the contents of the quote which ends up as extra work. Besides, I would hate it if someone quoted pages upon pages into this expandable box. I think a simple layout is superior, especially if there's nothing wrong with what we have now.

I like the idea myself.
