hate to disappoint cha friend.......XP is the NT/2k kernel as well.

I played ALL my games on 2k server tho.....no problems here. XP won't play a few of my girlfriends ($5 at Walmart) games, but everything else runs.....ok I guess.

I havent had any problems with any current games so far. Only really old stuff like roller coaster tycoon has some issues but I like it so far

you can run old games by using the new simulator thang(forgot the name of it) just pick which OS to act like and it will work!

That simulator thang is the compatibility wizard. You can run your programs in a Win9X, ME NT and 2000 environment. It seems to be ok for games. One thing that caught me off guard is that I got a copy of Thief. It wouldn't install on my 2K machine, said it wasn't designed for NT. But it installed and ran on my XP Pro machine without a hitch.

I seems slower on my DSL than the 2K machines. But I haven't tweaked it.

............... Win XP is a a great Direct X compatible gaming OS..
Though I prefer cable over DSL.

The BIG Question!!!

XP PRO...or XP HOME?????

For Gamers...O.C'rs....

and yes even some real old DOS/Win95 games....

If you suggest "Home" version....what will I sacrifice that "Pro" would have...???

Speed.....OC Ability???

I believe that the only diff between the 2 are Pro you can run a duel cpu setup and you have all the admin stuff and Home ver is single cpu support only and minus the admins stuff

I have pro and love it, but i dont see how its worth the extra $200... (If your not running dual cpu)

There has to be a difference.. It'll be experienced later but for all I know Pro is just a way better choice to go for

Yeah sorry guys ive been saving for a car and havent really been cruising the boards much..but with dsl itll be a breeze. Ive had dialup for 2 years and since its finaly available im goingvto get back into computers abit and especialy COUNTERSTRIKE. Hmm a new os is a bit touchy but it seems like i have moved very nicely...i dont plan on doing things you guys would do to your comp(i have a hard drive...a videocard a modem and an ethernet card and its going to be like that for awhile.....) and pretty much everything is a perfect clean install. I feel alot better than when i first installed windows98. Imight be going to college so i dunno if the dsl thing is going to last but then there are always high speed campus lines....right?
