Hey folks, I have been messing with voice commands for my sims for awhile now, and have tried a few programs, and two of them left me still wanting something that was reliable that actually worked.

I now introduce you to VAC! VAC simply stands for Voice Activated Commands, and it works flawlessly! It can be used for any game or simulation or application.

It is 30 day Trialware. After 30 days a 10 dollar fee is all that is required for a lifetime of upgrades and support. VAC even has it's own dedicated forum. If there is anyone out there who has tried Shoot software, there are some problems with it. VAC blows shoot away. It is very easy to use, and it's very easy to make your own profiles with it. It is a stable program and so far for me has nailed every single command 100% of the time.

You can check out VAC HERE (http://www.dwvac.com/) . If you've got a good headset with a quality noice cancelling mic it will work perfectly. I have a profile with over 300+ commands for Falcon 4 Allied Force and every single one of them work. For 10 bucks you can't beat it. :)

It's very cool. I can say the phrase "Tower Request Taxi" and it will execute the command T6 which is the KB command for "request taxi" in F4AF, and you will hear the virtual pilot say "Cowboy 1-1 Request Taxi" and the tower then comes back and says "Cowboy 1-1 Taxi Runway One One Hold Short".

It works perfectly. It's stable as a rock. It causes no performance hit. it simply runs in the background and requires very little CPU cycles when you say a command. It idles at nothing. it requires no CPU cycles when it's not issuing commands. It requires very little memory usage. I am running 1GB and it's plenty for what I am doing. It is an efficiently coded and professionally done software application.

10 bucks for it is nothing. It's worth every penny. Shift_E is the handle that the developer goes by on his forum, and he's very helpful, and has supported this product very well. He is a professional developer and he knows what he is doing.

I've used a few of these programs, but nothing will match VAC. It is the best Voice Command software I have been able to find, and I've been all over the web for the last couple of months. My search is over. I need not look any longer because this program does everything, and it does it without issue. Once it is setup you don't have to piddle fool with it, baby it or do anything. It does what you want it to when you want it, and it only does what you tell it to with no instability, hesitations, or any of the other crap I have seen with other programs.

is it hard to config?

Very easy to use. It just takes time. You can look at the interface and it's totally intuitive. If you have a profile like the one I downloaded it will take some time to setup, but it's not hard. in fact it's very easy. I changed a few things in the profile i DL'd and it was a piece of cake.

Be sure to check the profiles page as there are alot of profiles there. If you're into flight sims there's just about every popular simualtor in there. There are also other games available. A search may turn up other sites that have profiles available for it. If there's not, it's very easy to make your own.

DL the program. You can try it for free for 30 days. If you like it, just paypal him 10 bucks and you can upgrade for life, and get support. If you have any trouble, just post of a thread on the forum.

Yep, anything that the KB or a controller can command in game or even opening a program will work. It's whatever you set it to do. You can associate any comand to voice.

People, one thing I fogot to mention. Use it to enhance the game, but don't abuse it. There are things that could be done that would not make the game a challenge anymore and that's no fun. Please don't use it for "targeting" ok? If people use it for that it will make me look bad, and that was not the intent. The intent is to make it more fun and more realistic...not make it a new type of "cheat". I'm not saying anyone would do that, but just be mindful of that.

Just ask yourself...

If I had somebody do this would it be fair to me if I wasn't using it?

I think you know what I mean. I use it for radio commands to make it realistic, but I don't use it to target other aircraft or manage systems in an unscalelike manner. That's not fair, and it's dishonest. Some of these servers have become so restrictive that games are no fun anymore. Make sure you do the "right thing" if you go online...ok?

The program does not hog resources. During a command I saw peaks of around 12% CPU for a split second and it drops off back to 0% for that process. Memory useage is low. If you have 1GB for most games you are fine. If you are playing FEAR or the highly intensive games with maxed settings you will want 2GB, but for those folks they are already aware of that. As long as your system already has enough, this program will not affect game play or performance. It is coded very efficiently...no memory leaks, and it's not a resource hog at all.

It doesn't have to be used just for games. It can be used for any app, program, utility, function, or anything that you need to do. Instead of keying it you just say it and it does it...it really is that simple. To some it may sound daunting or complicated at first, but it's really quite simple.

Go to the FAQ's, and read about the setup and follow the directions about training and it will work perfectly.

Use a good quality Headset Microphone. A Plantronics GameCom 1 USB DSP is a great Headset. It is 50 bucks through the egg. I own one now, and it is really nice.

Also, please be sure to be honest and pay the guy the 10 dollars. It's not that much money, and we all want him to support this product. He deserves that 10 dollars for his time. I actually felt so guilty using it without paying for it that I sent him my 10 dollars after 3 days use. It has a 30 day trial period. Obviously it is on the honor system, but think about how much time this guy spends coding and updating the program...10 dollars is a small price to pay for a great program like this. Help to assure it stays around and supported.

Thanks for reading. :)

Do it Fr3@k3r,
It's fun. Be sure to test each command as you go along especially if you code a profile that has 300+ commands like the one I DL'd from the profiles page! LOL

It's just so cool I had to tell people about it.

Remember, be sure and train the MS Voice Recognizer in Control Panel and go through the microphone wizard. Also use a good mic. Leave the 20 dollar cheapies on the shelf. Get a good Plantronics USB Digital Signal Processing. It does make a difference. I had a cheapie and there was just too much noise and the noise canceling didn't keep out ambient noise like fans and stuff. My Plantronics nails every command. Most commands are short 3-4 word phrases. Like "Sentry Checking In" or "Sentry Next Target". Sentry is the AWACS radar aircraft that directs the fighters to the targets and assigns priority to them and stuff like that.

:) Oh come on...it ain't that hard. Just read about the training, and the microhone wizzard that's in the FAQ's on the website, and then open the "VAC Builder". Start playing with stuff.

All you're basically doing is assigning a key function to a phrase, and then labeling it. Set the Key ms rate to 60ms for each command, and set repeat to 1 unless it requires a continuous hold or something...there is a separate option for that...there is an option for hold and momentary or something like that. Forget the exact term.

Just start playing around with a single command and get that working. Once you do that, you can add more.

To test click on the command to highlight, then click test phrase, and speak the command. be sure the mic is on and is not muted. It will then show you the spoken phrase, the response, and the command executed. :)

How are you guys making out with VAC? Are you liking it? I flew some more today with it, and am loving it. Uisng it for the radio comms in flight simulators really helps. Nobody pushes buttons to execute radio comms in an actual aircraft.

I still haven't had a single command missed. I have had to say again a couple times where I didn't speak carefully or clearly enough. I'm so impressed by this program. It's hard to belive such a great program only costs 10 dollars. I really like it. It adds to the realism, and it's cool.

You folks can brag now that "My computer responds to voice commands, and I don't have to touch the KB if I don't want to." hehe :)

I don't get how this can be used as a cheat at all... That would be so 1337 to use it for the buy menu. Say the gun you want to buy and it buys it...OMG so hawt. SOOOOOOOOOOO HAWT.

There are ways one could use it to 'cheat'. Targeting is one of them. It takes skill to target with a manual controller, but with voice there are ways to make it instantaneous. Jumping and ducking is another thing. That takes coordination and timing, but with the word 'jump' or 'duck' it would be instantaneous without the skill of muscle memory or human quickness factored in.

On the other hand, it can used to make things more realistic like regular game commands such as menu choices, options, and things like that.

Also remember if you setup a voice profile and use Team Speak not to use this program with a "Hot Mic"...in other words, you don't want to broadcast every command you say to the entire online world! LOL You can program a PTT button or switch for that. PTT stands for Push To Talk. That way, when you want to talk via Teamspeak you press the button and they hear you, but when you issue commands everybody else doesn't hear them. :)
