Ive heard that when using the NTFS filing system, you can put a password on an individual folder. Is that true, and if so, how? Ive played around with properties for folders, and no luck. any guidance appretiated. :)
hmmmmm..... Why would you want to put passwords? Can't you just use a program for that?

Best way is through users/permissions.
You make an account other than the administrator's account for normal use. Choose a different password for this account. Priviledges can be set to Power User for the most control without actually being the admin. You set the folders you want to protect to only be visible to the admin, so when anyone wants to access these files it will ask for your credentials (administrator account credentials). You'll need to remove the Guest account from the files you are protecting as well.
You will need to use this alternate account at all times as if you are logged into the admin account anyone that is using that PC can access them.
EDIT:
Thought I'd that using a Power User account over an Admin account can also save you some system resources at times.
You could use EFS if you're the only person to log on as admin
