I have uncapped my K6-2 450 and am currently running it @ 496 mhz (4x124 2.6v)... There seems to be room to add L1 cache modules but I am not sure. Is there anything I can do to get some more juice from this chip?

i dont understand why yours is so slow, i had a k6-2 500 at 600 with a fop32

Funny old things the K6 2's, had a 333 that would do 400. A 450 and a 500 on the same MoBo that wouldn't do a Mhz over their rated speed. Strange old beasts, about as consistant as the weather in the UK.

I thought UK weather was 100% consistent, consistently raining. ;)
L1 cache is the cache inside the chip, it can't be added to. It can be subtracted from by disabling it in bios but it's still physically there. If you mean the motherboard cache that's L3 cache, even though the K6-2's don't have the in-chip L2 so you skip from L1 right to L3! I wouldn't recommend adding to it, it's not cost effective. I hate to see a system not going at it's maximum potential but paying for add-on cache and all other bells and whistles to tweak it is only going to give you a top-of-the-line "has been". Save the money for a socket A setup is my recommendation. If you still want to tweak what you have and pump it up I suggest doing things that will not cost you, like registry tweaks and such, or buy parts that will still be useful for a future, modern system. Like getting a socket A heatsink that will allow you to up your voltage a bit and maybe get more speed out of your K6 now and cool your Duron/Athalon later.
What chipset does that board have? Is it VIA?

I have a K6-2 that is marked as a 380MHz Chip and it will do 450 No problem, not a bad oc..

Well, I would imagine that the FOP32 had something to do w/ it. You're using a lower end Thunderbird cooling solution on a very low end processor.

My K6 is labeled 380 but it gets to 450 with a stock heatsink and the temps are 42C full load!
