I installed BOOTVIS.exe, and optimized my system, but now I can't shut down or go into Sleep, cuz my system always reboots when I do that. If I shut down, instead of shutting down, after closing everything, it restarts, and if I go to sleep, it plain restarts ! Please help, I don't always want to be around my comp when I want to shut down, and I don't want some major power consumption if I'm not using the comp !

Well did you save a restore point beforehand cuz I would do a restore that should solve the problem.

Actually, I disabled System Restore before anything happened, so I cannot go back ! Anything else ?

the technique to troubleshoot shut down or restart problem is follow

1-tylpe msconfig at run menu

2-when you are at msconfig, you will see "service" and "startup" tab, go through them all and disable them all..........and restart the computer to see if it solves the problem

if it does, you try to enable 2 or 3 things at a time and see if it cause the problem.........until you isolate the one cause the problem

run "chkdsk /r" at command prompt or at recovery console

the problem is solved...........hope this help
