Hehehe,Was just wondering when I get my new 900MHZ Slot A here in about a week...Would I be able to switch the DIP's to 1000Mhz and not hurt the CPU? Btw I got some mean fans coming to cool that lil bugger! (Total'd it up about 210CFM w/ all fans in) :D :D

Yeup, changing the mult and voltage requires a gfd or a soldering job.

You might be able to hit 1000mhz by increasing the FSB, but it's gonna be close cause of chipset limitations. Cooling won't really matter.

On a side note, is the guy your buying it from from the classifieds?

No i'm buying it from a retailer,But why wouldn't I be able to use the DIP switches for a 100Mhz increase? Thought DIP's would automaticly increase the MHZ/FSB/& V-Core to the preset max  ,

Uhh I'm not sure what your saying.

Dip switches are usually in place of jumpers or the jumper-less design we see nowadays.

They can change FSB, Multipliers, and CV.

Some boards may only have one of these dip sets, while others have em all.

On Slot Athlons you can't change the multiplier no core voltage without using a GFD.

I'm geussing those dip switches on your mobo are for FSB. So you can probably change it above the 100mhz default settings. But the chipset on your board won't go much above 112mhz. So thats the biggest overclock your gonna see without a GFD.
