View Full Version : making a dos boot disk in XP is very easy :)
You can easily create a bootable floppy disk by following these steps:
Place a blank disk in the floppy disk drive.
Click Start, and then click My Computer.
Right–click the floppy disk drive, and then click Format on the shortcut menu.
Click Create an MS–DOS startup disk, and then click Start.

others said it was hard in XP but so far everything is so easy and stable I can't believe this little OS. I just need the v5 drivers from nvidia. *holding breath*

You know, there are a lot of easy things in XP. They have brought alot of things back that they left out of 2000. Alot of these things were handy tricks. MSCONFIG is back.
I honestly thought that Microsoft shot their wad when they put out 2000. But XP is a power users dream. I love this OS.
Kingslayer if you like msconfig try gpedit.msc !!! just run->gpedit.msc and you have tons of little and cool tweaks/customizations ready for you to play with. make a restore point if you think you are going to screw stuff up.
I dont use the MS XP bootdisk because of the code page garbage at startup. I know I know.......edit it out ......personlise it etc but honestly it looks like an unfinished product. No slick affair with cd drivers and such either! I use The Ultimate Boot Disk, various flavors are available and there are many otherbrands on the net.http://koti.mbnet.fi/antiqser/smilies/teleport.gif
well yes for flashing I use a different stripped down boot disk cuz I am lazy and it is all I need for a quick flash.
