Order doesn't matter as long as the res is before the pump. Use whichever order uses the least amount of tubing.

on a related note I was wondering about doing 2 rads (as opposed to one big one) in the following order
pump->cpu->rad1->gpu->rad2->res->pump
the reason for this is the way my case is setup and also because i have one of those hot preslers so I figure it would be better to cool the water a bit before it gets to the gpu
CPU= 820 oc'd
GPU= currently 6600gt but eventually 7800 gtx
is this an effective way of cooling it down or should I go with one dual fan rad?
order like this
pump->rad->cpu->gpu->res->pump

If you run the rads in parallel, you'll get less of a pressure drop. Basically, get two Y splitters and setup the system as you normally would a single radiator system, but instead of connecting the input to just one radiator, use a Y tubing adapter to connect that single input to both radiators and another Y adapter to connect both radiators back to the pump (or block depending on if you're CPU -> Rad -> Pump or Pump -> Rad -> CPU).

The temp of the water changes very little through the loop, so you don't need a rad between each component. 1 bigger rad will probably have less resistance, and there will be less tubing so flow will be a tiny bit better. In my opinion 1 rad is just better than 2.
