First off, thanks guys for helping me out to get the tools to mod my bios.
However, I have run into some really strange things while experimenting with upping the voltage...
If I up the voltage (via bios mod) at all, i mean just 1.41 instead of 1.4, it will not let me soft overclock at all past stock 460 core. (I have tried up to 1.5 and it still does me no good.)
If i leave it alone, i can get 470 no problem but past that it shows artifacts on ATi Tool.
BUT!!! If I mod the bios to 490/1350 clocks and leave the volts at 1.4 (stock everything with volts) I can run ATi tool all day and get no artifacts whatsoever.
Does this make any sense?

What brand 7800GTX is that? Mine is complete crap...I can only do 490/1.300 if im lucky. Some are duds and some arent.

I didn't think you could bios volt mod GTX's?

between 473mhz and 500mhz is one oc point, so if you can do 473mhz you should be fine with 499mhz. i don't know why you'd clock higher when you modded your bios, sorry. i didn't gain anything in the core by flashing my bios.
also, if i remember correctly the people who changed their 3d VID got bad results... so i'd do hardmod or nothing

Mine is a BFG OC so it was stock 460/1300. And as for volt modding a GTX... I have read forums where they could volt mod the GT so I figured it couldn't hurt but i guess i'm wrong.
@crimedog - does that mean setting it at 490 does nothing? I need to set it at least at 500 to get any boost?
Oh, and as for hard mod... i'm not quite up to date on how to do that, if you have any good sites that can walk through a TOTAL begginer i'd appreciate it

www.malvescorner.net has the mods that VJ developed. they are difficult points and i wouldn't recommend them to a beginner. as for learning how check out the volt modding section and practice.
you will get a small boost between the "key oc points" but you'll get a huge jump for that 1mhz

Ok... it won't pass at 500 BUT under the bios mod program (NiBiTor) It has a geometric delta clock... what is that? If i increase that number will it make it go faster?

geometric delta clock is the extra 40mhz due to nvidia making software oc the gtx an extra 40mhz and not show it ><
or atleast thats the best i know to my knowledge! :)
