Since my current PSU went the way of all good things, I have been considering the seemingly two most popular models: OCZ 520 Powerstrem and the Silverstone 560.

The problem I had with my last psu was that the 4pin ATX wire was too short for my case (P180) which forced me to lengthen it and void my warranty. I noticed that the SS comes with a 8 to 4 pin adapter for older motherboards. If the cable on the SS turns out to be a bit short, I was thinking rather than splicing cables again, that I would use the adapter to give me some added length. The question is, is there any advantage of using the 8pin over the 4pin in my signature system or would a 4pin (which is what I'm using now) be sufficent?

I don't believe there is any advantage or disadvantage. They are using to same power.

Then there are times when you need both the 4 and 8 pin. This would be the only disadvantage I can see.

BTW, The SILVERSTONE SST-ST56ZF ATX12V/ EPS12V 560Watts is a very nice PSU.

I'm leaning toward the Silverstone, but I first want to see if they will RMA this Antec - even with the splice wires.
