im looking at upgrading my mobo and am wondering the difference between pc-133 ram on a KT133A chipset and pc2100 ddr ram on a kt266a.
i know this is a Memory/mobo question
but i was wanting it in relation specifically to SETI times
and comparisons would be appreciated guys
:)
SETI loves bandwidth. As far as times go, I would say marginal but if you're in the process of upgrading, I would go for DDR.

just upgraded my second machine last night to KG7 RAID + XP 1500+ (1.33G) + 128DDR. right now, it's running at 1.5G (10x150). and it's much faster than my main machine 1.56G t-bird w/ SDR
1.56G T-Bird --> ave. 4.1-4.6hrs / WU
1.5G Palo --> ave. 3.6hrs/WU (p.s. it "only" crunched 2 WU so far...) :D
and now u can see the difference from a T-Bird w/ SDR to a XP (Palo) w/ DDR!!:D
btw, i'm still "dialing-in" the CPU for now.......:D

yes seems to be a decent speed increase
but how much of that would be due to the newer chip
i have no hope of affording an XP
i'll probably end up with a 1.2 Tbird cause pricing over here sucks
any more comparisons or advice would be appreciated
from those in the know
:)
