I have my one-clicks linked to the bat files so I can start and stop the service easily. So in services.msc I have it set to "manual." When I shut down windows, will it stop the FAH services?
up until now, I have always stopped it with the bat files, waited, and then shut it down. It would save me some time if i knew windows stopped the service anyway.
thx!

if you shut down windows, anything and everything that was running in Windows will stop.

so it will close the FAH service properly?
has anyone had problems, when setting it to manual, with corrupt wu?

I've never had problems with windows shutting F@H down...I wouldn't worry about it. I think the main reason why the .bat files are used is the fact that there are only 2 other ways to really stop the service, either end process (which is where you'd get the corrupt wu's) or to go into services and start/stop them (which is why there is a start stop file, because it's way too much work to do it that way).
Basically, windows shuts the service down just like you would the console, with the cntrl c.

perfect, thanks guys. I'll keep using the .bat for gaming, but thanks for putting my mind at ease about using the normal windows shutdown.

I don't. Was playing FarCry last night on my Opty rig, and was folding at the same time. It just stops using cpu cycles for which ever instance of fah it wants to and gives them to the game. Having 2GB of ram helps also.

yeah in games like FEAR and CS:S, I would get some choppiness. That was when I was running QMD, though, which used a lot of RAM. I haven't tried playing with these dgromacs yet.

you might not have a problem with the dgromacs, as I have noticed that they are not nearly as system taxing as the QMD's were...I think their mainly cpu intensive, and luckily, that portion doesn't matter in this situation.
Let us know what you find out.
