I currently have my machine dual booted with Win98SE and Win2K Pro, I want to delete Win2K. What files on the root of C: do I need to edit so Win98SE will load automatically?

Win98 SE = Primary OS on c: drive
Win2K Pro = on d: drive

u can try this if u are using fat boot up using your 98 boot/startup disk get the a: prompt type: sys c: hit Enter

if u see a "system transferred" msg u got it reboot
should be at win 98

then u can delete any of these u find
Ntldr
Ntdetect.com
Boot.ini
Pagefile.sys (if present)
Bootsect.dos

Just be carefull. I started a dual boot once and changed my mind. Went into the folder and started deleting things I thought would get rid of the menue when you boot up. Well I had to totally reinstall after that. Would'nt even boot up anymore.

the thing is the a: sys c: which completly removes the need to have those files-that command replaces the boot system from c: (2k) completly with the one from the a: (win 98) after sucessful transfer u will see no more dual menue or any ref to 2k during boot

That happened to me when I went to all Windows XP and then I tried deleting windows and it didnt seem to boot up anymore so i had to reinstall everything again !!!

Pain to do that and all the program I had!!!!!!

Just be careful and backup everything before doing everything.

Turd, thanks! I completely forgot about the a:\sys c: command! It worked with no problems at all, boots directly into 98 like I wanted.
