Ok I have a new AK31 REV3.1 MOBO and a new AMD 1.4 AYJHA CPU. What I am asking for is what is the BEST cooler to buy without getting into WATER. I will want to O/C someday. I have a Enlight 7237 case with fans front and back and I am planing on changing these as well and may even add another to exhaust even more air from the case. I am somewhat confused as I have read and read and read all about coolers and their weight which AMD says has a limit to what they recommend. I am a newbie just getting into this great hobby. I welcome all comments. Currently the old system which I am writting from is a FIC SD-11/AMD 750. The temps in this unit is 21c/21c/22c. I know these temps will go way up.
What is the MAX that I should even begin to worry about in CPU temps once this system is up and running without overclocking and overclocking?

your temps look fine for the moment, wish i had those. anywho, there are three good choices thermaltake sk-6, global cak 38, and the swiftech mc462 if you have the money. you really don't have to worry about temps unless they go above 50 degrees C cause that's when you should worry. amd cpus will melt at 90 though. just try and stay near your ambient temps and you'll be fine unless you live in arizona or something then i'd suggest water cooling.

well, if you REALLY ARE getting 21c, you don't need anything else at all, you've got better than watercooling! somehow i think you're temp probe is off, very common ocurrence. Best way to measure temps is with a probe placed next to the cpu core. insocket thermistors and bios readings tend to be off, as the measurement is made from under the cpu, and many times the thermistor isn't touching, and even when it is, it usually gives false readings. No matter what air cooler I got, and I've had them all just about, I never got below 30c, with an ambient temp of 25, system temp of 26. I'd make damned sure your thermistor is working before i was confident in that temp reading. And the best sinks to get are:
sk-6 (cheaper and effective)
mcX462-new model of the mc462, just came out, either one will perform the same, the new model has a better fan mounting setup, see swiftnets.com for details
the wbk is an ok cooler for a 1.4, it isnt the best performance for high overclocking/high voltage setups though.

Ok I do live in Tucson, Arizona and the house is only using swamp cooling in the summer. As for the temp I have right now they are on a AMD non O/C 750 CPU. Maybe I should look into water because next summer trying to keep the house under 80F is tough during the daylight hours when its 110 outside.

water cooling is not as scary as it sounds, especially if you but a whole kit such as the heat seaker at overclockershideout.net
