Free no bloat virus scanner updated to the 21st century. (had windows 95 look to it in version 6). Memory footprint reduced to 18 MiBs and added an update scheduler to the free version. Kickass update IMO. Best free av there is :) Hell, it is better than the ones you have to pay for!

Thanks downloaded and trying it out.
Which is better AVG or AntiVir?
Yeah, i wanna know that too, AVG is too slow while scanning.

I've tried this at work on a couple of machines that I worked on to do virus scans, and i've found that the new AntiVir 7 really seems to be bugged. Might be the copy that I downloaded or something, but the computers would hang up trying to load the task tray agent. Scans also seemed to take forever. Updates seemed to take forever in a day to update and overall, i was really not pleased. I really liked 6's performance, but the jump to 7 seems to be a huge leap in terms of interface improvements, but it seems they missed something and it runs terrible.
Like i said, I could be a messed up copy I downloaded from thier site, but so far, I'll not be installing it ever again on someones, or my, machine.

Seems to work like a champ for me. They beta tested it for ages, so I can't imagine it is too bugged. I find it to be pretty quick, but I cannot make a direct comparison to AVG or Clamwin. I think daves ultra super quadruple triple toaster antivirus test showed that AntiVir found more viruses than any of the other free ones (which isn't an entirely useful metric) and was pretty decent when it came to scan time. It does about 10k-12K files per minute on my machine (which also isn't an entirely useful metric). Updates are fast too, although the download rate is only 80k for me (probably because they are based out of germany).
I've never had any troubles with it, but of course I've only had version 7 for a day. YMMV, worst thing you'll have to do is uninstall it :)
runs great for me. i've had the version 7 update for a week or so now with no problems.

buggy as hell for me on the lappy and main , I had to get rid of in Safe Mode , only way to cut down on the running processes . I too loved 6 but 7 for me is a POS . maybe with an update or something but ...
Haven't noticed any bugs, but it seems to be as slow as avg for scanning.
