im trying to fix a Compaq Evo N1015v for a friend which was destroyed by virus activity, this resulted in a reinstall of WinXP however now any PCMCIA wireless networking card I try to use simply fails to work reporting a code 10 error, stating ''can not start device''
Ive tried everything I can think of and reinstalled using all the available drivers along with a number of different cards.
Im begining to believe that this could be a IRQ conflict however im not sure you can force the use of other IRQ's in XP (correct me if im wrong)
Wondering if you guys have any ideas on this matter :bang head

I'd say remove the driver for the PCMCIA controller. Reinstall that then reinstall the card. Sometimes it's the PCMCIA controller driver that's screwy.

when you installed windows did you do a full system install or just a repair. Because some times virus can write them selves to the start and end sectors in the HDD and that MAY...although slight chance. be a problem.

Also make sure there are no problems with the card...like it really can't be started because the card doesnt work.
